At 4:37 a.m this morning there was an earthquake that measured 5.2 centered in New Salem, IL.  I realize that may seem small to some of you on the West Coast but here in the midwest it's pretty big.  I woke up feeling my house shaking and and didn't really  realize what was going on.  When I finally got up this morning, I got on the internet right away and sure enough it was an earthquake.  The news says it was felt across several states.  There doesn't appear to be much damage.  I guess across this wonderful country of ours we all have natural happenings that affect us differently.  I remember when my cousin from California was here as children he was terrified of thunderstorms and tornados.  I'm just thankful that it seems that there are no major issues from it!

Tammy,

You all are property on the San Madras fault line, it goes through Arkansas, Missouri, and probally Illinois.  I bet that is a scary feeling!  Good post.

The reports say it was the Wabash fault which is a northern extension of the New Madrid fault.  Funny Andrew, but I'm actually a Cardinal Fan - live about 6 miles from St Louis :)

Hi Tammy: It's all over our news--Southern CA. I was shocked!  We Californias are expecting one daily, but not in your neck of the woods. Hopefully everyone is okay!
