Aspen Viewing in Colorado

One of the best things about fall is the turning of the leaves. People gather into the mountains and drive over passes for this beautiful phenomenon during the months of September & October.

The best time to view the aspens in Colorado is usually the third or fourth week of September into the middle of October. During this time a drive through the mountains can be covered in red, yellow, and orange leaves that will leave you breathless.

Here are some tips for enjoying aspen viewing in Colorado

Wear layers – Keep in mind that going into the mountains can be a bit chillier than what it may be like in the city. Also, a little cloud cover can cause the temperature to drop unexpectedly. When you plan your trip continue to keep an eye out for weather but also remember that Colorado’s weather can be unpredictable.

Bring Snacks – Sometimes this time of year the passes can be packed with cars so your trip through the mountains may take longer than expected. Also, if you stop along the way to take pictures and get lost in the beauty it’s easy to become hangry. (hungry & angry)

Charge your camera – Make sure your batteries are full on your camera. If you are going to use a phone make sure that you phone takes great pictures and that its battery is full. You don’t want to miss out on great photos because you didn’t charge your cameras battery and your phone takes crummy pictures.

Check your Car – Nothing will ruin a trip to the mountains faster than a broken down car. Get your vehicle inspected. Make sure all the fluids are good and that the vehicle will not break down in the middle of your day. Also, remember to top off your windshield washer fluid in case there is any unexpected weather. Colorado is known for having snow so also inspect your tires.

Use sunscreen & Lip Balm – Even on a cloudy day, being that close to the sun can leave you burnt. Also, winds tend to be harsh on your lips so it’s a great idea to pack some lip balm to protect yourself.

Enjoy your trip – Go and have a fun trip. Leave your worries and troubles behind. When you are out there allow the trip to leave you breathless!
