Well, Slap my head and call me SILLY!
I was out showing property this past weekend. I had made my calls, spoken with each agent and carefully scheduled each showing. The first three properties were occupied, so after I scheduled the showings, I emailed the schedule to my buyer and explained that we would need to watch our time since we were viewing occupied homes.
We arrived at 9:00 a.m. sharp to view the first condo. Guess who was still home? The owner and his chihuahua, but they rushed out, apologized and left immediately. I can handle that situation, and so can my buyer. It's all good.
We were scheduled to see the 2nd property at 9:45 am. We actually arrived a few minutes early so we walked around the complex to see the amenities. After knocking and ringing the doorbell, I put the key in the doorknob, and to my surprise, the seller quickly opened the door wearing nothing but his underwear. YIKES! He apologized for over sleeping, woke up his wife and fortunately, before they let us in, they both got dressed. They continued to sit on the bed while we ran through the clutter and mess and dirty laundry ALL OVER THE PLACE!
The third property was scheduled for 10:30 am. Because we had spent only 2 minutes in the previous property, we were running early again. This one was oceanfront, so it was certainly not a problem for my buyer and I to relax at the beach for a while to discuss the other properties and the area. We knocked on the door at 10:30. No Answer. Before I could access the key in the lockbox, the seller swung the door open.... in his underwear! Well, Slap my head and call me Silly! Seriously? How lucky are we to see two older men in their underwear on a Sunday morning?
My buyer has a great sense of humor, and we actually had a lot of fun laughing and discussing our morning during lunch. But a word of advice to sellers: When you have showings scheduled, and you really want to sell your property but you have a tendancy to oversleep.... Please sleep in pajamas so that when you open the door, my buyers and I cannot see your tighty whities!
