Either they want an in-ground swimming pool or they don't, or maybe they are ok with it either way. My homes have all had pools, but that doesn't mean they are for everyone. Pools can be a great source of relaxation and entertainment for those living in south Florida. However, there are some things to consider before buying a home with a pool in Boca Raton.
For people with small children, there is an extra layer of caution needed. You need to keep a child-proof fence in place around the pool at all times, which can be removed when using the pool. All pools must be either screened in or fenced in, according to Palm Beach County code, to prevent a child from gaining unsupervised access to the pool. This includes self-closing and self-latching gates.
For people in active adult 55+ communities, while some may prefer having a private pool, others may prefer going to the clubhouse and using their pool in order to meet people and socialize. Clubhouses in active adult communities are central meeting places with planned activities. This is personal preference and also lot fit, as many of these homes are on zero lots that may be too small for private pools.
There is maintenance to consider. Pools need weekly cleaning. Chemicals need to be checked. You can do it yourself or have a pool service come in. Unlike pools up north, we never drain or cover them seasonally so that part is easier.
There is the relaxation factor to consider. Just imagine those lazy afternoons under the Florida palms swimming or lounging on a raft followed by a barbecue. To me, that's what having a pool home in Boca Raton is all about. It's an extension of your house and offers built-in fun and relaxation. Do the pros outweigh the cons for you?
