It's great to see flags are flying everywhere today

By

I will admit that I've gotten a little weary over the anti-American sentiment that's been being stirred by so many hate filled groups that are here in this Country. The irony is that they are free to talk badly about the Country they call home because of the sacrifices others have made to allow them that freedom.

Today being 9/11 we are reminded of the fact that there are very bad people in the World that will stop at nothing to inflict fear and harm on those who believe in peace and love. I'm so happy to see all the American flags flying everywhere today. It gives me a sense of hope that we just might come together as a united people again inspite of our political and social differences. A divided Nation cannot stand and 9/11 is a great reminder of what a Nation can do to love and heal when we all come together.

I like to see flags flying on personal residences as well.  I have a little flag on my patio. It remains there 24 x 7.

It's such a good feeling when I pull in to the neighborhood and there are flags up all over.

Nicole,

We agree, we both love our country...someone from Germany once complained to me about America, Americans, etc.  I said, "If it is so terrible here, why are you staying here?"  He turned red and could not answer...A

My grandparents migrated here from Mexico. There's a reason why so many people are risking life and limb to get here.

The hate is getting really frightening. Not sure what needs to happen to end it, but I pray the answer comes soon.  With an election coming up, there is a whole lot more hate coming our way. Watching the two parties go at each other is sickening to me.

I am not looking forward to the rhetoric that will be flying around social media the closer we get to election time.

Nicole Doty - Gilbert Real Estate Expert ~ hi NIcole, I couldn't have said it better myself. My attitude is that anyone who doesn't like it here should just go back to where they came from or find a new country to live in. Interesting, isn't it, that they don't leave?

Sep 11, 2015 04:18 AM
Nicole Doty - Gilbert Real Estate Expert

The don't leave because they sit under the very freedoms that allow them to hate this place.

Nicole - remember all those "United We Stand"  Signs After 9/11  I hope people have not forgotten. Freedom is not free and there are bad people out there.

I remember all those signs. The tragedy brought us all together.

Nicole,  I will never forget the day after 9/11 and driving down the highway.  There was a large paving operation going on.  Large paving train of equipment working to put the asphalt down.  The guys on the paver had rigged a large mast with a 10 foot or so American Flag.  It was a sight I will never forget.  I have posted many times on the American Flag and all it stands for.  Nicole I agree with you that it waving does give us hope.  Mark

I will always thing of 9/11 as one of the most tragic days in American history.  Yet, as every cloud has a silver lining, I also remember the coming together of this country in unity afterward.  I miss those days!

Beautifully said Nicole.  Unfortunately, our children, at least mine, are a generation under siege and have been shaped by 9/11 and the aftermath.

Nicole your words hit home.   I came from Portugal when I was 8 years old, and it is hard for me to understand others who have also come from other countries to the U.S. speak bad about the country they live in.  My family came here by choice, and also had the choice to leave if things were better where we came from.  The U.S. gave my parents the opportunity to provide a better life for us and they did.  Things are not perfect here, but are better than anywhere else I am aware of.

For me 9/11 serves as a reminder we need to protect our freedoms from those who would try to take those freedoms from us.  Freedoms which are freely given to even those who speak badly about a country who provide them with the freedom to criticize it without threat of punishment for what they say.

I'd like to see all of the people who bash America go live in another Country that doesn't allow that sort of thing. They'd be begging to come back.

Hi Nicole Doty - Gilbert Real Estate Expert , It's a shame that we have to have 9/11 to remind us that we need to be one nation united.

Sep 11, 2015 09:12 AM
Nicole Doty - Gilbert Real Estate Expert

It is a shame Larry. I wish our leaders and citizens could stay united but we live in a "whatever is good for you" type of society now. It's all about the individual instead of about the collective now.

Very good post and well said. It is good to be reminded of how great our nation is as you look around the world. A lot of people think we need to aspire to be more like Europe or other countries. I have been to many of them and can tell you there is no place like the USA. Socialism hurts people far more than capitolism. Many people give up and never aspire to greater things in these countries for it will not be rewarded but rather punished.

Good morning Nicole. Great job with your post, very tough time. I pray for the families that lost their lives and their families. From that date, everything changed in the country.

Here in TX our Governor told us all to lower our flags in memory of those that perished on 9/11. There were many flags blowing in the wind too and I also wondered, what would it be like if every homeower and business owner had a flag raised and honored the flag too. I feel for the kids of post 9/11. They are happy kids, happy to be kids and many were too young to remember - or do they remember? I pray for those kids of post 9/11.
