Delray Beach- Bobby Jack At the Beach
Three-day weekends always throw me off. All week, I’ve either been a day ahead or behind what it really was. Thankfully I showed up where I needed to be when I needed to be there.
Labor Day we had thunder storms mid afternoon. The beachgoers left and by the time we took a late afternoon drive, it was pretty quiet along A1A.
This is Bobby Jack… at least he looks like him. He was hanging out at the beach a few days this week. It may be that someone asked him to guard the meter.
“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.” Abraham Lincoln
And towards the end of the week, our focus was on where we were 14 years ago. We were reminded of how fragile life is and how vulnerable we were.
“Do not allow to slip away from you freedoms the people who came before you won with such hard knocks.” D.H.Lawrence
At the same time, we were reminded of how strong and resilient this country is. Members of Congress stood on the steps of the Capitol and sung “God Bless America.” American flags flew everywhere and we all wore our flag pins.
“There is a certain enthusiasm in liberty, that makes human nature rise above itself,in acts of bravery and heroism.” Alexander Hamilton
What’s happened to all of those flags and pins? It’s important that we never forget. We need to tell this story to our young children and continue to tell it. We need to continue to honor the memory of all those lost that day by never forgetting.
Have a weekend of remembrances.
