Aiea, Pearl City Neighborhoods- Hawaii Military Relocation

Pearl City, Waiau, Waimalu, Pearlridge, Wailuna, and the Aiea neighborhoods are all around the general vacinity and a close hop, skip and a jump to Hickam AFB, Pearl Harbor Navy Base, Camp Smith,Tripler Army Medical Center and Fort Shafter Army Bases.

The map to the below shows the majority of military bases around Oahu in Honolulu County.

Ford Island is across the Pearl Harbor waters and can be seen from Blaisdell Park in Waiau (Pearl City). The entrance is along Kamehameha Highway right before the USS Arizona Memorial.

Within five miles of each other are the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet and the Pearlridge Kam Swap Meet and they are great places for outdoor shopping for souvenirs, clothing, polynesian style crafts and much more.  Open on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Residential Sales in the Pearl City/Aiea area of Honolulu County. Median Prices mean the midpoint of sales prices...meaning that over half of the sales were above and half were below. Given this information, the Honolulu Board of Realtors placed the Pearl City Residential resales for the first quarter of 2008 at  $704,500 for single family homes (up from the last quarter of 2007) and $323,000 for condos/townhouses (up from the last quarter of 2007)

Neighborhoods in Honolulu County:  Different neighborhoods around the Honolulu area and within a few miles to Hickam AFB, Pearl Harbor Navy Base, Camp Smith, Tripler Army Medical Center, Ft. Shafter, Schofield Barracks, Wheeler Army Air Field and MORE military bases.

Other articles of market conditions:

  • The Market DEPENDS on the Circumstances Doesn't It?   Every individual has different needs, circumstances and criteria for purchasing or selling their home. An overview of reasons as well as OAHU (Honolulu County) market report for the island.
  • Be Part of the Solution For Your Market; Because "Shift" Always Happens All neighborhoods tell a different story when it comes to current market statistics so in my opinion there is NO nationwide statistics to compare to our Hawaii Market. This article was written last summer although with the other articles you will read you will find out that our market has stabilized. Some may have gone up, down or just remained at level sales prices.

Sally - so true that national statistics are just numbers. So are local statistics - it really varies by neighborhood as well as type of property. Real estate is local, very local.

Sharon: Funny how the media portrays the stats as "nationwide". Our inventory is going down (yah!) and it's become a more stable market on Oahu in certain neighborhoods. I like doing all these neighorhood watches :)

Now that's a lot of information, packed into one post! Good job incorporating everything together =)

Lisa: Seems it never seems complete...lol! I always have to jam it with stuff and then put the online relo button so they can have more. Well, can't say there isn't enough info :)

Sally, I loved the map but didn't realize there were so many bases there!  It's funny but I'd have to say the home and condo costs are about comparable to here (is that possible??).  Most of the new homes are going for above $600,000---and you've got how many days of sunshine every year??  :)

04/18/2008 07:56 PM by Carole Provenzale Owner, Feng Shui Long Island & New York (Feng Shui Long Island & New York City)

Sally, I'm with Carol..I didn't know you had that many military bases. That's awesome! I really like the look of your blog and I like your information at the bottom of the post. Have a great weekend!

Pearl City and Aiea are so convenient to several bases. With gas prices climbing and traffic getting worse, the military buyers are looking to stay closer to base than before.

Sally great local content, another OUTSTANDING job on this blog.

I can remember the last time I heard someone use "hop, skip and a jump" :) :)

At my age I am reduced to a "hop" and possible "skip", but the jump is out of the question .......... LOL

Carole: So....when are you moving here? Lots of biz for FS here! We are close to ALL military bases here...i mean...how could we not be ...we are on an island with MANY military bases and installations :)

Linda: I kind of like it too :)  Hey...where'd the side ones go?  Eh...we just gotta keep playing with this stuff. :)  I gotta go cruising to yours and see if there's fishies up there :)

04/18/2008 09:26 PM by Celeste "SALLY" Cheeseman (RA), HAWAII Real Estate & HAWAII Relocation (Century 21 Liberty Homes -Mililani, Hawaii)

Randy: Same goes for Mililani, Waipio and Waikele...close to Schofield and Wheeler.

George: Thanks George...you know...I was just thinking about you a little while ago...you're always here to greet me every evening..... unless I'm hopping and skipping and jumping to another time zone to post lol!  So you see...we who are a little bit older display our spunk in other ways LOL!

I like this post, Sally. Great information and nice photos. Do you email your relo package or do folks simply download? What is in it (I did not click for fear of generating an email to you from someone who is NOT relocating to Hawaii).

    Hi Sally,
Ditto to all the above, you are the AR relocation pro!
Neal, Sally may be a long way from the East coast but not far away enough from Lenn to do that!

Sally,  This is a little off the topic, but your posts are always full of helpful information; nicely laid out; and, the map is great!

    Linda: Beautiful!

Jeff: It's just an online one and a link to another site with the post and MANY links. I do send out a printed material one...not quite so comprehensive with ALL my relocation posts but some. :)

Margaret: Believe it when I say it is because of the group that I am getting my 'stuff' together and more organized. Just put up my extensive military base map (made with Microsoft Digital Image Suite and took hours!). Thanks for keeping the group organized with Cynthia and Rich. It makes for a wonderful informational place with great military relo info.

04/19/2008 02:04 PM by Celeste "SALLY" Cheeseman (RA), HAWAII Real Estate & HAWAII Relocation (Century 21 Liberty Homes -Mililani, Hawaii)

    Thanks Katerina!

Neal: Thanks...and just put the "hours to make" map by ....ME.

Cynthia: No kidding... Lenn has her wonderful maps for her area....watch...this is only the beginning for me and maps :)

    Thanks Marc! Thanks Gary!

    Okay Mirela

Interesting that the market is up from the previous year.  Sounds like Hawaii is doing great.  I look forward to buying in Hawaii in the future.  I love it there.

04/19/2008 02:48 PM by Utah Dave and Utah Homes for Sale (Robison & Company Real Estate)

Dave: Ours stabilized but never went down as other parts of the "nation". I don't like those 'nationwide' reports....it's not the same market everywhere in the U.S. And even moreso from neighborhood to neighborhood.  It is a nice place to live....
