Wading Home - City Performance Hall - Free Performance

Dallas opera lovers have an extraordinary opportunity to experience a free performance of  Wading Home at Dallas City Performance Hall tonight, September 15. The opera tells a meaningful story of a son's search for his father in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Wading Home, is based on a book written by Rosalyn Story. The author, a violinist, worked with long time friend and composer Mary Ellen Rich to create this dramatic musical story.

 

Donnie Ray Albert stars in this performance. He will be joined by Bronwen Forbay and Leon Turner. Also featured in this opera are the incredible Children's Chorus of Greater Dallas and SYZYGY Meadows New Music Ensemble.

This is a free performance. Guests are encouraged to arrive early.

KIm, the producer/music director, along with the stage director and conductor are also from Dallas.  All are current or former faculty from SMU Meadows School of the Arts.

Yes Sharon, a free opera is an incredible deal.  Going to the opera at the Metropolitan Opera House is so expensive that few people get to enjoy it and appreciate the art form.  Yay Dallas!

Joanna, Dallas is working hard to bring the arts to everyone in the city.  The Dallas Opera does a simulcast in an adjacent park once a season so that more people can learn about and enjoy the art of opera.
