SEO. The non-techy way (Part 1!)

SEO can be pretty darn simple

Many real estate agents make the mistake of thinking their PropertyMinder website is like a billboard on the side of the highway. They assume leads and past clients will just drive by and see it. In reality, the only way you will make sure that “highway” is full of drivers, is if you spend some time on your SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

There’s no “techiness” involved, it's just a matter of committing to doing it. Speaking of "techy," the most important SEO updates you can do don't even involve titles, tags, or links.

Just update your website with interesting, useful content that provides value, even if it's just once every couple weeks.

SEO Tip 1 of 3

SEO should be on every page, not just your Homepage.

A lot of the agents we speak to on a daily basis think that they only need to optimize the homepage of their website.

Not true. Every page on your website needs to be optimized.
You don't have to be "techy" to do this.

Ok, here we go. Ready?

Make sure to update the permalink and keywords.

What is a permalink? It’s a URL that has relevant words in it.

For example, instead of:  www.johnsmith.com/uiwnvosiugv39757635ovjrm

You  create:  johnsmith.com/luxury-homes-Los-Angeles.

Make sense?

Additionally, your permalinks, keywords, and content should all be “talking” about the same thing. Basically, stick to one topic per page. Don’t have keywords that don’t match the rest of the page.

For example, if you’re working on your About Me page, don’t have keywords like “Find a home.” Stick to describing yourself. This is how you indicate to search engines what your page’s use is for website visitors.

We know it can be tempting, but trust us, you won’t trick the system. It will only hurt your online presence if you have too many keywords that don’t match the content.
