I Challenge You!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Real Estate RS301772

flowersEveryone, I would encourage you all to take a little time this weekend to show kindness to a stranger, even if it takes you out of your way.

It is very satisfying to do something for someone else, without any expectation of compensation, doing it "just because."

Lots of people make fun of Mayberry and an Andy Griffith show mentality (oops, I guess I'm showing my age here...) but I'm here to tell you - most people will appreciate an unprovoked kindness.

- Give a waitress an extra large tip, even if she was a terrible server.  Maybe she's care worn and feeling down-trodden and has no spirit to serve.  Maybe nasty customers have gotten the best of her.  Maybe you can brighten her day by leaving more than the standard tip, and put a note with it..."You're special.  Treat yourself".

- Stop by your dentist or doctor's office and give the secretaries something - these workers are the backbone of the office and deserve some kudos too.

- Help someone who obviously needs it.  Naturally use caution; listen to your instincts.

Feel free to post more suggestions below.  And have a "Pay it Forward" weekend!

Karen, As I don't do well without my sleep I will keep your post in mind this weekend.  I am doing the cancer walk tonight, all night and it has been a long time since I have missed a night of sleep.  Hey it is one night and for a good cause.

"...I was hungry and you fed me, I was naked and you clothed me..." Your post is a sermon if ever I read one!  Remember to serve with joy...Let that joy be the "catching kind!"

Sounds like a great weekend plan to me!

Diane, It only takes a second to be kind to some one. A simple smile or a kind word can literally change someone's life. I try my best to spread cheer where ever I go. Who knows.....it could be the only kind word that person ahs heard in a long time.

I think that its important to remember those who do the little things, like pour your coffee at the local coffee house, help you with your take-out at the local Chinese restaurant.  These guys go unappreciated and abused.  How hard is it to give a decent tip and smile with a nice "hello, how are you?"

Karen,

Great post!  It's funny, because I've always had a mental trick to keep from letting people get to me.  If I'm dealing with a person that's out to give me a miserable time, I make up a back-story in my mind.  I imagine the my waitress is having problems at home or just got bad news about a loved one.  Something simple like that is enough to change your entire approach with someone.

Have a great weekend!

Being kind is what i do every day when i am a waiter.... so many people just push and "suggest" things for you to do.... "Can you get me this.... I need more of that...."

I just bite my lip and do everything I can to make everyone I serve have a great time....

BUT that is not the topic of your post I see.....

Being kind is something we should be doing ALL the time... not just at work......

If are just nice to people we make money from or who can bless us... are we not showing partiality...and doing good for a payment?

We should be kind to EVERYONE we come across in life.... and be like our Creator in heaven.....

=-)

Great challenge.  I live in LaPine Oregon and just this year for the first time ever our Middle School participated in the Challenge Day Program.  This program was centered around and for the kids, but what a great thing for us adults to remember daily ourselves.  I love it when even just a smile to someone leaves you feeling you made their day.  What things might be like if everyone thought of doing things like this daily?  Again Great Challenge. THANKS.
