From Selling to Sold: Tips to get your home off the market

You’ve done it all. You’ve cleaned the carpets, dusted the fans, repainted the walls and eliminated any trace of Mr. Whiskers. Then why doesn’t your home have a “sold” sticker plastered across the lingering “for sale” sign? Buyers have come through but what could you possibly be doing wrong?

You may be doing a lot right but there are a few strategies to selling your home you may want to consider if you haven’t otherwise. Exhausting these options allow your home to climb to the top of buyer’s wish lists.

- Utilize signs: Whether we want to admit it or not, when we come to a stop in a neighborhood we read that scraggly sign with the words “garage sale” or “lost dog”. We may or may not respond to it but its read. Keep this in mind when selling your home. Signs can be homemade, printed, creative, simple or anything you’d like (and aren’t very costly!). It’s a great add-on to any existing advertising you may have regarding your home.

- Online: Another way to advertise on a budget is to take advantage of the internet including social media. Your friends may not be in need of a home but their friends might! In addition to this, public websites may help get the word out as well especially for buyers out of town!

- Don’t forget about what you “can’t” see: When buyers come to view your home it’s likely they’ll want to see the storage space as well such as cabinets, drawers and so on! If these spaces are cluttered or unclean it may alter the buyer’s perspective and decrease chances of them making an offer.

- The extra touch: Ask neighbors or friends to walk through your home and ask them what they noticed. A few different perspectives may allow you to spruce up things you wouldn’t have ever thought of.
