I have a new rental listing and was speaking with a potential client who called on my sign. I told her to google the address and she could see pictures immediately if she did not have time to wait for my email with the pictures from my MLS.
She called me back and told me that Trulia had it listed for $1,000 as the rent. I said, no that was incorrect since Trulia got a direct feed from my MLS and the rent was $1650. She insisted and I thought it was just an old listing so I "googled" the adress and lo and behold...she was RIGHT!
Some guy named "Donald" had "scrapped my listing - had the house listed as "For Sale" and then had posted that the house was not for sale but actually for "RENT" for a $1,000!! It had the same days on market as my listing! Of course I was livid. Wrote a review on his profile and tried to contact Trulia. They were closed for the day but I was able to get someone this afternoon and they have promised to take his information down!
If this is happening on Trulia it probably is happening on Zillow and other sites! Their should be a way that these sites can verify that the right listing agent has the information and prevent scammers like this idiot from doing this. Hopefully, there are no potential tenants that have been scammed by this guy.
From now on I will be "googling" all my listings to see what pops up!
