Pay-per-click or PPC advertising is one of the most popular advertising methods in the internet. Ever since the dawn of the internet era, the business industry has been making use of internet advertising to replace the more expensive conventional advertising methods like TV commercials and newspaper ads.Google AdwordsWith online advertising such as PPC, business owners get huge benefits even with much lesser investments.

PPC advertising involves investing in search engines to give your business website a prime position when someone searches for keywords encompassing your business website. Having a superior placement requires having to bid against other business websites vying for the spot. Once you are able to get the highest bid, you pay the search engine the necessary fee so that they will feature your site exclusively to web surfers. PPC advertising then works its magic by requiring you to pay a certain fee for every surfer who clicks on your ad to your site.

PPC advertising can be both advantageous and disadvantageous depending on the circumstances. A basic principle you should follow to make your business a success through PPC advertising is to make quality ads so as to draw in only the quality customers. PPC advertising requires you to pay for every click of your ad or every visitor your business website receives. This means you need to pay whether the visitors' intent is to engage in business transactions or just browse through your site. This is like having to pay for every customer that goes in your shop, without having the assurance of having that customer buy something from your wares.

PPC advertising does have its perks at times. For instance, depending on the popularity of the search engine you are using, your business gets the needed exposure from millions of surfers online. Also, if your PPC advertising is top-notch, you can feel the immediate results just within days. Make sure to use effective keywords though so that your PPC ad can easily be spotted by search engine users.

However, PPC advertising has a number of disadvantages as well. PPC advertising can only be effective at short periods, and choosing to go for longer periods can only drain you much money without receiving the desired benefits. This concept is entirely like placing a commercial on TV. People will easily grow tired of a commercial which constantly repeats itself. You should should come up with new gimmicks to keep your PPC advertising fresh if you want to use it in the long run.

I use Google PPC advertising and receive quite a few good leads every week. These leads have turned into listings and home sales. Let me know if you are using Google PPC and if it is working for you. If not I can recommend someone to help you.

I used to do Google pay per click.  The fees got so outrageous compared to the business being generated that I stopped using it.  Blogging takes more time, but it is free and it also makes you appear as an expert in your field.

I have considered PPC but I have also heard several Agents say they were paying out too much and received few, if any leads.

Elaine,

I have been doing print media (phone books and smaller targeted publications) and have received calls.  With the market being so tight, I want to reduce my monthly obligations, but still keep the calls coming.

It is a difficult thing to decide, but I have gone the rout of blogging and paying more attention to my web site updates to keep the pipeline fed and the monthly advertising costs to very low or none.

Haven't used it but thought about it at times.  Maybe in this market it is time to start again.

Hello Elaine,

We have not yet tried Google's PPC offer, and are hesitant to set this up without a Pro helping out.  Do you recommend any consultants to help set up a successful PPC campaign, and help us eliminate the pains and expense with a trial-and-error approach?

Thanks!

John
