Service Is . . .

By
Home Inspector with Complete Home Inspections, Inc. TN Lic#050

The dictionary defines the word service as, “the action of helping or doing work for someone.” whereas self-serving is defined, “having concern for one's own welfare and interests before those of others.”
Over the past few weeks, I have read several blogs and online articles that do not put the real estate profession in a very favorable light. Many feel that agents are over-paid, put their agendas before their clients and feel as if they have been “serviced” instead of being given service. I have experienced terrible service by agents on both sides of the transaction in my line of work so I can understand how the public feels. “Good Service” is an individual perception. IMHO, it is not only addresses your client’s expectations, it addresses the expectations of all who are involved in the transaction.
Everyone who frequents this blogging platform is in the service business. If you were your customer, how would you rate your service? Where could you improve? I have been taking a long hard look at my own business by asking myself and my team these same questions.
P.S. Don’t kid yourself. There is always room for improvement!

;-)

It is a GREAT day at Complete Home Inspections!

Good morning Michael.  If one tells me they are the best I'm immediately suspicious.  I learn something each day and I'm looking forward to new knowledge or how to do something different today.  Knowledge is powerful and I'm hungry to learn...

Hi Michael.  It is no wonder that the public has a problem with our fees.  There are so many incompetents in our business.

Good morning Michael Thornton ,

You are right there is always room for improvement! Unfortunately in our business the entrance requirements are not as stringent as they should be...until that happens our industry will continually take a bad wrap. I work hard every day to make sure everyone in a transaction feels their voice is heard and their efforts are appreciated. Thanks for your message in your post we all need to reevaluate out business practices.

Good morning Michael,

We continually should keep an eye on what we are doing to not become lackadaisical.

Make yourself a great day.

The beauty of being "in the Rain" is the fact that there is always something to learn, and we must be open to improving.

Michael - I can remember when service was king, but that has changed over the years. However, I still believe that service is king, and you are right, everyone involved in a real estate transaction needs excellent service.

Michael, I hate those negative experiences you are having with real estate agents but I get the same from many on the other side.  Once they have the agreements signed they disappear & I am left getting things done... no matter service to your client in the best way brings return business...how could they miss that even if they were not altruistic?!

At church we do some sort of service regularly, practically every week.  Some people never understand the feeling that comes with it.  I like to feel that feeling often.
