Ladies & Gentlemen: I Proudly Introduce..."Your Sphere of Influence"

finding-your-sphere-of-influenceWhen putting together your database of SOI, you should include all contact information such as: mailing address, e-mail address, cell/home/work number, birthday and personal facts. Think about adding personal, side notes about each individual so you can relate to them on a more personable level. People love it when you remember the little things.

How Do I Reach My "Sphere Of Influence"?

Word Of Mouth

1) Your SOI will affect the amount of time that it takes to establish your business.
2) The rate in which you add names to your SOI will reveal the growth of your business.
3) You being able to get referrals from your SOI will basically impact the success of your business.

How can I accumulate leads from my "sphere of influence"?finding-your-sphere-of-influence

  • list your sphere of influence
  • contact your sphere of influence
  • educate your sphere of influence
  • ask your sphere of influence for referrals
  • contact sphere of influence again
  • show appreciation to your sphere of influence
  • refer people to your sphere of influence
  • rinse and repeat

Are you having trouble building and/or growing your "sphere of influence"?

While it's fairly easy to jot down a list of people you know, it's just as easy to forget certain individuals. I have put together a list of almost every single person on the planet. You can look it over and possibly pull some ideas from it. There might be some individuals that you have not contacted or seen in some time which means it's time to reconnect! Once you get your entire list together, you need to start brainstorming as to how you will a) get their contact information b) what method you will be using to contact them. Your 'sphere of influence' list should never be 100% completed. It will always be growing as you branch out into the industry, meeting new clients, friends and associates. Now, it's time to begin your "sphere of influence" journey. Have fun!

At my former company I was a trainer for the newly licensed agents.  That is the first thing I instructed them to do is to work on their SOI list.  You have to build your data base, communicate with it  (keep it updated) and feed it (add to it).  It is like a child,  it needs proper care and nourishment to grow.  Thanks for reminding us that "Your Business is Your Datatbase."

Excellent SOI list for newbies - and those that just need to revisit some great strategies.  As you mention is point 3 - SOI is also a great source for referrals - and that is something I have found tremendously valuable.

Hi Lindsay - what a very well-laid out post and what a terrific list that is for anyone needing help developing their SOI!  Much of my business comes from mine, which I've developed over the years and continue to tweek.

Very nicely done!

Great post. Even though I have been in the business for over 22 years it is always good to be reminded (since the education never ends) what we need to do and who we need to contact. Very nice presentation.

If  you have clients moving up to my corner of the world let me know and I will be glad to take great care of them.

Hi Lindsay - at the end of the day, we want our business to come from referral and you are right, we get caught up on other "stuff" and neglect our SOI.  Thank you for the list and I shall get back to nurturing them. - ellie -
