When getting into real estate, it's very important that put together a database of your Sphere of Influence. This is basically how a real estate agent starts off. The first thing my broker told me was to gather information on my SOI. Your Sphere of Influence are people you know, kinda know and well, maybe don't know. Have you forgotten about your SOI? Sometimes it's really easy to get busy and forget about your SOI. Get it together and continue to show your SOI some love becase you need them! They consist of:

1. Friends
2. Family
3. Acquaintances
4. Service Providers

When putting together your database of SOI, you should include all contact information such as: mailing address, e-mail address, cell/home/work number, birthday and personal facts. By adding personal facts, this will allow to to contact on a more personal level.

How Do I Reach My Sphere Of Influence?

Telephone
Personal Contact
Direct Mail
E-Mail
Newsletter
Advertising
Word Of Mouth

1) Your SOI will affect the amount of time that it takes to establish your business.
2) The rate in which you add names to your SOI will reveal the growth of your business.
3) You being able to get referrals from your SOI will basically impact the success of your business.

Are You Having Trouble Buidling Your Sphere Of Influence?
Sometimes people have a tough time getting started with their SOI. Here is an easy list to
get you started. Print it out and start adding names to it asap. Some of these
names might encourage you to reconnect with people. As soon as names have been
added, start figuring out a way to find these people to get their contact info.
As soon as the contact info is collected, you can now start on your
SOI journey. It's time to expandy our SOI!

Good job, SOI is where it begins and you need to continue to add to it.

The reason I even made this post is because I am the one who got so busy and forgot about my sphere of influence, so it's like I have to start all over again. So, don't be like me...lol...never forget about your SOI!

Great Post!  We all need to be reminded to add names to SOI on a continuing basis.  It is the MOST important aspect of your business.  Thanks.

Lindsay - great post with excellent points.  I've found the following two suggestions to be the most effective: Thank Your SOI and Refer People To Your SOI.

Marti- Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting, it's always a pleasure. :)

Teri- Oh my, I am a "list" person also. Everything I do is basically based around a list. lol

Diane- You are so right. Most of our business revolves around our SOI.

Jason- I wrote this post to remind myself. lol

Julie-Thanks for stopping by :)

Jackie-I think thanking and referring are probably the two most important things with your SOI!

Sometimes we forget how important these little things are!! Your SOI is a must and even when you're in the business for quite a few years you need to keep informing and letting people know you;re still around!!

Lindsay, great list. I tell new agents that I am training to make a list of the alphabet A-Z and write names of people ending in that letter or an occupation with that letter to start their sphere.

Sphere is so powerful.  My moms aunt called me three weeks ago about her home two hours from my office. When I visited my parents I stop to see it and give her tips.  Two weeks later I am working with her grandson on helping them find a home and potential closing in June.

Lindsay ~ Great list. We often send referrals to our dentist, etc., and should expect a return favor if possible.

That's a valuable list--thanks for sharing!

Thank you.  I will be showing this to my new agents.

At my former company I was a trainer for the newly licensed agents.  That is the first thing I instructed them to do is to work on their SOI list.  You have to build your data base, communicate with it  (keep it updated) and feed it (add to it).  It is like a child,  it needs proper care and nourishment to grow.  Thanks for reminding us that "Your Business is Your Datatbase."

Excellent SOI list for newbies - and those that just need to revisit some great strategies.  As you mention is point 3 - SOI is also a great source for referrals - and that is something I have found tremendously valuable.

Great post. Even though I have been in the business for over 22 years it is always good to be reminded (since the education never ends) what we need to do and who we need to contact. Very nice presentation.

If  you have clients moving up to my corner of the world let me know and I will be glad to take great care of them.

Hi Lindsay - at the end of the day, we want our business to come from referral and you are right, we get caught up on other "stuff" and neglect our SOI.  Thank you for the list and I shall get back to nurturing them. - ellie -
