Are Websites going away?

Websites. These are the golden geese that just keep laying golden eggs. They are the massive fishing nets used to troll the Internet and dredge up tons of new leads. They are the magnets that attract all kinds of new business, right? What, you disagree?

I remember years ago having leads call me because of my website. I would answer the phone and the person on the other side would say, Hey, I'm looking at your website right now. Can you sell my home? The golden goose was actively dropping those golden eggs. I don't see that so much anymore.

My current websites with Keller Williams are being revamped by the company. I am also working on an independent website as well, but I had this nagging thought in the back of my head this week that I might be wasting my time working on this. Until this morning.

I woke up this morning to find 4 people had already signed on to my new website. The issue is, it's probably only 50% done, yet folks are already finding it. So, today I am renewing my efforts to get this goose up and running as soon as possible. I am looking forward to a few good omelets!

Good moning Peter. I think this is really a good question. I think that the right site may matter but I think the importance is declining.

I think you have to keep current and flexible. When people like Guy Kawasaki say they only post on LinkedIn and have moved away from other blogging platforms, you have to pay attention and seek out what is right for your marketing plan, which of course should target your audience. But a website seems to be a basic tool in the larger toolkit.

I can remember the day when Realtors who had websites, had an edge.  However, it seems more recently all Realtors have websites.  To me the best marketing efforts are finding those niches which aren't already over populated.

But, if you have a website that is generating productive traffic, by all means keep that baby running.

I think eventually everything is going to apps. Websites will still be prevelant but individual personalized apps will be the future in my opinion.

Hello Peter den Boer

It will be interesting to see what the future holds...for now, good websites still draw consumers.
