Buying Or Selling Real Estate? Fall is Prime for Both!

According to Patricia Verge, President of the Ontario Real Estate Association, there are severalreasons that Fall is the second busiest season for buying or selling your home. As most of us know, the summer is prime but do not discount the fall or autumn season if you were not ready a couple of months ago. There is a segment of the population that wants to move in the summer for obvious reasons such as getting settled before the children go back to school. There is also the curb appeals that a home has when the yard is at it's best, the flowers and shrubs are blooming and simply packing can be easier in the warm weather.

 Fall however, has its appeal as well. Remember some of us are too busy in the summer. There are cottage owners, summer vacations, boating season, seasonal camping and don't forget the children tied up in soccer, swimming and summer camp.

Fall is the time:

1) To get back to somewhat of a routine if there is any today.

2) Cottage owners and seasonal campers are thinking about the end of the season and concentrating more on their permanent residences.

3) As the days get shorter and cooler, families spend more time indoors. It may be more evident that an upgrade in size or location would be a great advantage for the family and why wait?

4) When more Open House signs on the weekends are evident. You can see more, compare more and let your agent find the right buyer for your home and the right home for your family. Some owners do not want summer open houses. They are simply not interested. Fall however brings out the more serious buyer or seller.

5) Fall is a beautiful time of the year. The leaves are turning color, the autumn colors are bright and rich in hue giving a curb appeal all its own to your home.

6) You may get a tax break if your purchase before the end of the year. Always check with your accountant to find out what you qualify for.
