During Labor Day weekend, my family and I had the great pleasure of visiting our good friends up North—in Newport, Rhode Island. It was a special trip for my growing family as we were able to bring our one-year-old daughter, Isla Marie. We spent a day at the beach, had lobster and clambake, and enjoyed a few restaurants and bars near the Wharf. I also had the opportunity to preview my friend’s vacation home that he recently purchased in Portsmouth.
What kind of real estate can $1.2 million get you in Newport, RI?
Aquidneck Island is comprised of three towns: Portsmouth, Middletown and Newport. The northernmost town and an hour from Boston is Portsmouth, the location of my friend’s recent acquisition, 47 Bayberry Road, a sprawling waterfront home with 1.38 acres sitting high on a cliff overlooking the Sakonnet River. Bayberry is in the very desirable Black Point neighborhood of Portsmouth, offering a private beach to swim and launch kayaks a short walk away.

The house is only a few minutes drive from the center of Newport, RI where you can indulge in fine restaurants and bustling waterfront, or relax at one of the fine sandy beaches of Middletown. Kim admits: “I think they bought a slice of heaven!”
