Sometimes, I Just Have to Ask . . .

By
Home Inspector with Complete Home Inspections, Inc. TN Lic#050

There are days that make me want to scratch my head with an electric meat cleaver and ask, “Why? What were they thinking?” Obviously, the person who came up this version of how to electrocute your friends and family without even giving it a second thought, wasn’t thinking much past the length of the recycled extension cord.
I can understand that this is an older property and the garage did not have outlets. However, there are proper wiring techniques and practices and this is not one of them. Nevertheless some folks have way too much time on their hands so they just keep tinkering. I guess that tinkering is their life.

;-)

~~ It is a GREAT day at Complete Home Inspections

Michael, I bet you see a lot of dangerous things in your inspections.

Michael I would strongly advice scratching your head with your hand instead of the meat cleaver ...... LOL

I'm little surprised there were no extension cords sticking out of that thing

That picture and your commentary got me laughing. It's amusing what we see in our jobs on some days.

Good evening Michael,

And when you asked to get it repaired by a licensed electrician with a receipt for the work they probably said there is nothing wrong.

Make yourself a great day.

I see garage door openers plugged into extension cords and even workbench lights. I guess the owners don't know any better.

Michael - It's pretty amazing what some people can come up with. They may be creative, but also can be a hazard, and very dangerous.

Good morning Michael. I remember seeing the same thing in a house that we purchased to flip, along with other brainless ways the previous owner took risks that could have cause serious issues. The photo tells all you need to know, there could be more issues.

Michael - I can't believe that one.  I can't even see where that extension cord is leading.

It is amazing what people will do and I have seen some great ones as I have shown homes but I know you have seen many, many more.
