Marketing is really cool, actually in my mind it is actuallly really fun too! Yet, I find myself having to be reminded, just keep it simple. In the world I live in (not sure if you all live in this as well), there is just an incredible amount of change. Technology is forever evolving and new gadgets and gizmos and even some appliactions are always being promoted to us realtors. I should not forget the daily ritual of calls I get with a self professed marketing guro to have my website placed on the front page of google. I really get tired of those calls!!!
Thing is, there is sooo much change out there you can only do so much. I've decided in the past couple of years to focus in on just some simple things, and to let others things go by the wayside. Actualy this came to me when I was at the time part of a national coaching program, and they just had SO much information given each and every week. I found myself thinking, OH, I just have got to start doing this system. So I would get to working on the system for the week, getting ready to launch it, when along comes yet ANOTHER great idea that I must just use. Ultimately I became so overwhelmed with sooo many cool things that I could try, that I did not do anything.
This was a great learning experience though, as it has taught me to keep it simple. My business plan and even my streams of income and things I do for each stream of income are way simple. I focus on just a couple of ways to get clients and I don't try to do ALL things.
Some people like to do open houses -
Some people like to door know their neighborhood
Some people like to send out postcards
Some like to do a specialty open house. Free list of homes, free list of foreclosures, highest offer wins open house................etc
Some like to do adds on google
some like to pay for placement on google
some like to pay z/t/r and any other national portal to give them leads
Some built their own website and work on SEO
Some blog on activerain
Some work expired listings
Some work cancelled listings
Some chase after For sale by owners
...............................and On
My point is you can't do them all. Well at the very least I can't. I am not a team leader, and I am now saying it is easier to go the simple route. Choose your favorite or top choices and then work those. Don't deviate from it once you've made the busines plan and of track your success.
Chances are doing just a few as opposed to trying to do ALL, will give you better results. Ever notice that most professional players only are professionals in one sport. Stick with a few, and get good at them.
