Fun with a purpose; Looking to get more involved in your local community? This Saturday, October 3 at the Woodside Green Park located at 213 Camrose Court from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM is the annual Big Walnut Creek Cleanup Canoe & Kayak Float in Gahanna.
Admission is free of course and the entire community is invited by the parks and recreational department to clean up Big Walnut Creek. Several times each year, this Creek gets flooded and litter piles up rapidly. Because of this unnatural debris and trash, the Parks & Recreation as well as participants from the local community will help clean up the creek.
If you're planning on doing this, you should be ready to work wearing old clothing and footwear. You will probably get wet as you'll be walking in the Creek. The Parks department will provide basicsupplies for the cleanup including the canoes and kayaks necessary for cleaning up areas that are unable to be accessed by foot. The Parks department will supply paddles, life vests, bags and other equipment necessary and will even provide a light lunch for people at Creekside.
The Parks & Recreation Does ask for preregistration and this is for ages 12 and over. If you're under 18 you must be accompanied by an adult.
If you've been looking to get your kids involved in the community or simply have a desire to clean up your own neighborhood, this is a great way to get involved.
