Open Houses and Ballons

By
Real Estate Agent with Frank Rubi Real Estate

I know most of us have done this.  I am talking about putting ballons on open houses signs so people can see them easier.  Well did you know we are actually running out of helium?  Thats right the second most abundant molecule in the universe is relatively scarce on earth.  While we use it for baloon it has a much more serious use for all of us.  In liquified state it is used to cool the super magnets of MRI machines.  It also is an inert gas that can be used for numerous lab machines and tests.

Where does helium come from.  Well if you are like me you thought it was in the air.  WRONG, it is a natural radioactive decay that is in natural gas fields.  Most of it comes from Texas.  This site is expected to be depleted in the next twenty years.  We all think about petroleum and other shortages.  Well this one may just sneak up on us and bite us.  There isn't another alternative.

There is another alternative to using baloons - low cost flag toppers wave in the wind and attract attention too! Who would have ever thought we could run out of helium!

I have a handle on your market!!!
There will always be an alternative.  We just have to use the brains God gave us to find the next one to use.  Yes we use it in our balloons everyday at the new homw subdivisions we sit.  Draws folks in like honey to bees.  Thanks for getting us to think about what the next one might be.

I am in the process of changing to open house flags and banners for the same reason as well as the cost of helium.

Maybe we can change to Hydrogen and get a bang out of them.  I actually am going to start using Amarican flags and get some patriotism back in this country.

Radioactive decay?!  That does NOT sound healthy to me.  What makes people want to inhale that stuff anyway?  (a temporarily squeaky voice isn't worth it)

I have an agent who uses balloons, I'll have to tell her about this.
