Resolving Negative Reviews for REALTORS on Peeple

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

I have not read anything about how the new website Peeple will impact real estate agents, but I am already easily imagining the horrible fallout from this monstrosity. What budding entrepreneuers will do to make a buck these days does not surprise me. What astonishes me is the number of people who support such actions, and even that probably should not because I am very aware of the Bell Curve. Because I sell real estate in Sacramento, but I digress.

Staying on top of your online reputation is important in the real estate business. There is already a rash of nasty stuff going on that many agents are not even aware of. Such as the horrendous increase of malicious attempts to hack a WordPress website -- those have skyrocketed since September 30th, yet few are discussing that issue on Active Rain that I can see. If you have a WordPress website, you need a firewall and protection against malware, too, but how many agents have it?

You can read more about this in my personal blog today at this link: Comparing Peeple to the TV Show REVIEW.

Elizabeth, there have been stories of businesses talking back to Yelp and some of the whiners who post reviews - in court!  It would make me think twice about posting a bad review that I could not document.

I never read any reviews about anything on Yelp because I consider the source. The average guy. Why do I care? And besides, they've been under attack for accepting advertising in exchange for deleting bad reviews and who died and made them in charge of the universe?

With worries about stolen ID and password securities...now I have to worry about my wordpress getting hacked? Oh boy...why can't these individuals use their talents for the betterment of the society?

Yes, you do have to be concerned and put precautions in place.

Elizabeth, My WordPress sites are protected.  I do not like Yelp ... anyone can post a bad/horrible review ... even if they have never worked with us.  I stay away from those public review sites.  People are people ... we see it all ... the good, the bad and the UGLY.

The problem with most reviews is they are either glowing or gnarly. Little in the middle. People are either so ecsatic they can't stand it, or they hate you with a passion for no ungodly reason.

I just learned about the Peeple place yesterday and all I can say is I hope it becomes a fad that goes by fast like so many other tech companies. With the amount of traffic it will get at first I am sure a negative review on there will end up ranking quite high on Google if they are indexed.

I never heard of Peeple - but reading your post it sounds nasty.  Ugh.

The prerequisite to being able to post a review is that you have a telephone number and a name. Who has their phone number and name plastered everywhere possible? You do.

my feeling is... or my thought is... on line viewers are starting to take reviews with a grain of salt... (whatever that means)  i think it means a salt free diet.lol

I don't think people have any idea. Most people are very trusting. Especially if they go to a website that looks "official" and they aren't web savvy.

I had a legitimate buyer put a good review about me on yelp.  They won't show it because it was their first review. WTH?   So now there is another one to deal with.  Like Kathy I read some stuff and it was all terrible.

I do not ask clients to post reviews on Yelp. And I do not read reviews on Yelp.

I've never been a fan of any on-line reviews.  They are ripe for misuse and are not something I would rely on.

Good morning Elizabeth. I received a bad review that came through the BBB, I was floored. I addressed on the site for all to see. It was never follow up again, other than BBB letting me know that the issue is resolved.

You have to stay on top of all this stuff, as you said so well.

Unfortunately, it's the whacked-out jobs that have no idea what they are doing that seem to take be so horrible and attack those who are only trying to help them.

I've never heard of Peeple but Yelp did post a bad review for my company. I sent proof from our State licensing board that the agent who was badmouthed never worked for me and the name of her real broker. Yelp said it didnt matter because we were both part of the same national franchise.  Time wasted even talking to them.
