When was the last time you or someone you knew had a family photo taken? Where did they have it taken? In a studio? Outdoors? Was it ever in front of their home?
I take my own photographs when listing properties and am quite fussy when it comes to things like open toilet seats, blurry images and people or pets in real estate photography...these are simply some of my personal pet peeves. So I am particular when it comes to homes and helping them look their best in photographic imagery.
But I also like to take a photo of the client(s) when they purchase or sell a home with me. It is something I like to privately share with them and establish a keepsake for them to have and to hold onto because the home they just purchased (or sold) with me is not just a place that houses belongings, it is a place with memories, of happiness and sorrow, a private sanctuary where a new occupant can create a new story and make connections with the home and a person moving out can mentally finalize the process of departure.
So I would like to suggest, take a family photo in front of the next home you sell.
If your selling clients are remiss to move and sad to leave, do so for them as well.
Photograph the home in good lighting, at a good angle and with everyone who lives and thrives in the home. It is a great way to emphasize the historic connection in the home and let the sellers who are moving on save it for a keepsake. It is also a great way to underline a new chapter in life and establish strong connections for the new buyers.
Here's to creating more good memories...
