Many of the people who are beginning a blogging career on ActiveRain are, at the same time, beginning a career as some type of real estate professional. And this challenge is all about giving our newbies a leg up in this rewarding, and sometimes scary, profession.

So the challenge is simple.

If you are an Oldie, think back on your own careerWrite  a post about the very best advice you got that could help a rookie become a rock star.

In my case, I had an instructor at the old Shannon & Luchs Academy of Real Estate who took a page from  "The Music Man": You Gotta Know the Territory! In other words, "Preview!  Preview!  And preview!" It was great advice then, and it's great advice now, even with virtual tours and Google Earth.

If you are a newbie, your challenge is to write a post about the best advice you've gotten so far.  Where did it come from? Was it a trainer or colleague? Was it someone who wasn't in the real estate business at all?   How have your implemented the idea into your first business plan?

After you publish your post, you come back to this post, and give us a link to your entry as a comment.

You may submit one post in this challenge for 1000 points.  But you could also win big:

Third Place: 3,000 points

Second Place: 4,000 points

First Place: 5,000 points

Each post will be judged by a panel of experts, including myself, and:

Charles Buell:

Home Inspector from Seattle, WA

Kathy Streib:

Home Stager from Delray Beach, FL

Becca Rasmussen:

Newbie Blogger who inspired this contest, and

Soon to be Realtor from Highlands Ranch, CO

The deadline is midnight, ActiveRain time (Pacific), on Halloween, so all you procrastinators - get your post written and posted before you leave for that costume party where you'll be drinking orange beer!  And in case there is any confustion, that is Midnight, Pacific time, October 31, 2015.

And good luck to all!
