My First Experiment with Mixpo

I took the plunge and ordered Mixpo from Activerain. Thanks to Brad Andersohn, walking me through it the first time, I was able to put this first video together. Brad promises me he is going to be doing a step by step tutorial on it. There are so many things you can do with it that it will take me some time playing around with it to get good. I think I deleted and started over so many times my eyes were crossed. Yea, I said "absolutely" way too much.

Last Saturday we were at the Michigan spring football game, and while I was there, I did a quick interview with Paul Bunton, the Chief of Police in Saline, MI. I have known Paul for a while both through Saline School meetings and Saline Chamber of Commerce Events. Chief Bunton has been Chief since 1994, coming from the Ann Arbor Police Department.

Mixpo is a dynamite program that we are fortunate to have the ability to use through Active Rain. To read more on it, read Brad Andersohns post on Getting Started with Mixpo. Take the plunge like I did.

Missy- Great job! It is a learning curve. I see you did not add the fancy stuff, I got so frustrated trying to add the clips and such, I tried too much at once! Great going!

Not bad Missy, I'll have to read up on Mixpo to see what it is all about and see what you are trying to accomplish here. Moni said she thought you were using your flip camera.

I noticed when we take videos on our regular cameras and the wind noise can be heard a lot.

Hi Missy - I like how you put your website address in there so it flashed up.  I don't have a video camera YET, but look forward to when I do.  I have been learning vicariously from those of you who took the plunge sooner than me.  ; -)

Katerina, I can't wait for Brad's post on it, I got it at the time and then when we hung up, couldn't remember so much. It was easy with him training, such an excellent teacher.

Jay, I do take the video on the Flip, save it, go into Mixpo to edit it, add music, syndicate it. So much more to learn but it is a fascinating program. My broker found the flip at Target this week for $90.00 on clearance.

Ann, isn't that cool? Brad said you can actually click it on and people can dialog with you, but they have to be trained because consumers aren't use to dialogging with video's.

Missy - Not bad for your first go round! You did a much better job than I would have and that's a fact!! I look forward to seeing how everybody progresses with this.

Missy-Nice job... the Flip is a fun little tool for us. I am excited to become better with mine and the editing too. I wanted to ask you why to all the people wear those funny hats with M on them?

Best,

Missy -  Hey Missy great job. If you could only be out of the wind....lol Looks good and I also like how you put your website in there. I'm sure we'll all be seeing a lot more videos as this "craze" catches on.. I'm sure I'll eventually get on of these flips but for now I'm just busy trying to sell a house in the market we have here on the east coast. Best of luck with it and see ya on Twitter. Bob H

Missy.... that wasn't bad for a first time..... I am ordering the flip video tomorrow.  I am still trying to figure out which is which.  I will then order Mixpo.  Thanks for sharing this and looking forward to more in the future.

Missy, very nice informal video with Mixpo and the chief of Police in Saline sounds like a wonderful man. What a great city and effectively communicated with a short video. Glad you got it to work with YouTube and Active Rain. Now you can put those mini home tours up on Active Rain. You are definitely cutting edge for all the rest of us.

Hi Missy:  What a great job you did!  I think Katie Couric should be shaking in her boots... or pumps.  Next thing you know, you'll first be weekend news anchor, then on to the evening news anchor in Ann Arbor, then on MSNBC or CNN Headline news.  You are so brave.  You go, girl !

Enjoyed your video Missy, and appreciate the inspiration.  For some reason I thought it would take longer to get the video 'up' while AR was in the Mixpo transition, so now I know I was confused.  Thank you for all the great things I learn from you.

Just as I take one step forward with the technology I am reminded that I am actually 12 steps behind.  I think my eyes are crossed Missy :-)

The video interview was wonderful!   Kudos to you for all of your hard work and determination to try new things and implement them.

Thanks guys, even though this was not a great first try job, it is number one on Google this morning for Paul Bunton, chief of Police in Saline, MI. I didn't even use his name in the title because it was posted for AR on the use of MIXPO.

The power of Active Rain !

OK, Missy, you are inspiring me!  I've got a Flipper and have figured out how to turn it on and do videos.  It's after that that's a little confusing, but I'll get there.  It's sort of the old dog new trick thing!

Missy - I saw how google worked with your video this morning! WOW!  I knew there was some awesome power in video, but that's very impressive.  Remember your first post?  Now look at your Blog!  This is your first video, we'll look back one day and say...Look at you now! :-)

Great job, to say I'm proud of how you dove right in and took the bull by the horns would be an understatement!  :-)))))  Looking forward to more of your Video contributions and success stories.

Brad, we need your tutorial !! I can't remember where I stored my flip files. LOL

You are such an excellent teacher, I should have written it down, but I was too busy clicking and it seemed so easy when you were walking me through it.

I was amazed too ! Paul will be thrilled.

David, get the bigger one, the batteries run for 1 hour instead of 30 minutes. It will be worth it. $149.00. Target had them on clearance this week for $90.00. Also try Amazon but if you can find them on clearance your cheapest way to go. Go blue !  Shall we tailgate together? Ha

I understand how hard it is to do make a video.  Was the softward easy to learn?  I wish I had more money to spend on all these cool items.  Have to lead with revenue NOT expenses. I would like to be able to work with this sometime this year.  We'll see.

As always, way to go Missy.

Very cool - Overall, how easy is it to use, edit, add stuff, etc? I have a video editing program I currently use but it's has some limitations that really bug me! Just wondering if it would be much different with this (although from what I've read and seen here on AR, it seems to pretty impressive). Thanks for sharing Missy!

Way to Go Missy!!!  I love that you are jumping in there with MixPro and video blogging.  But, I am most impressed on the topic.  What a cool idea to have your police chief talking Saline public safety at the game!!!  Between the game spirit and the great things he had to say I'm ready to move to Saline!!!  Perfect subject for video.

I liked it Missy!!  I have been watching the different attempts to use it.  I have not really heard a lot of negatives about it.  I am thinking of taking the plunge myself.  I just don't want to get something I can't or won't use because its not as easy as I thought.  I need SIMPLE!!
