My PM World
I woke up this morning with one eye open
Hit the ground runnin’ wishful thinkin’ & hopin’
That today would be a calmer day in my PM World
I had some breakfast....wheaties will do
Headed out to the office...AKA “The Zoo”
Wishful thinkin’ & hopin’
That today would be a calmer day in my PM world
Barely sat down w/ a fresh cup of java
Phone rings...Surprise! A tenant w/ drama
Toilet backed up they continued to share
No.. son didn’t flush Buzz Lightyear.... I swear!
Ending that call still wishful thinkin’ & hopin’
That today would be a calmer day in my PM world
Contacted plumber with my new 911 call
I now have 50+ plus work orders thats all
Not too bad considering the worse it could be
Now sitting down back down w/ leftover coffee
Still wishful thinkin’ & hopin’
That today will be a calmer day in my PM World
It’s now past lunch time heading for door
Late for inspection but here comes more!
Renter is ready to sign the lease
Forgot his appointment time...oh geez
We sat down quickly went over docs
I am tappin my finger watchin the clock
still wishful thinkin’ & hopin’
That today would be a calmer day in my PM World
Keys in hand, new tenant is gone
Headin out now only 1⁄2 past one
Ready for inspection knocked on the door
no one answered...walked in...almost fell on the floor
“Oh my” I said....”This place is a mess”
I think I will dock them for housekeeping & stress!
Sifted through the junk & made more notations
Went back to car...need aspirin & lil meditation
Still with wishful thinkin’ & hopin’
That today would be a calmer day in my PM World
Back at the office waiting for five
Warmed up morning coffee ready to dive
Dive into the clutter that sits on my desk
My neglected TO DO’s of last weeks mess
Still wishful thinkin’ & hopin’
That today would be a calmer day in my PM world
Grabbed a pile of papers..ready set go!
Wishin’ I had a cigarette..wait...I don’t smoke!
Thinkin’ I’m wishin’ for a lighter
To clean my desk with a lil bit of fire!
Shakin’ off that thought...Why? Because....
We are still wishful thinkin’ & hopin’
That today will be a calmer day in my PM world
Look...oh my it is closing time
Made it through the day...barely...in the nick of time
Locked up the office, lights off...lets go
Made it home... no interruptions...spoke too soon....oh NO!
Cell phone ringin’ off the hook in my ear
Police at my apartments evidentially the “Party of the Year”
Officer said control your tenants.... sharing his point of view
Or we will have fines and they will be charged to you!
Hangin’ up the phone... still shakin’ my head
Went to the kitchen ...wishin’ it was time for bed.
BUT I am still wishful thinkin’ & hopin’
That today would be a calmer day in my PM world
Dinner is done...*Clink- Cheers* .... Bedtime is near
Made it through the day w/ a couple of tears
I am sure tomorrow will be a better day
Headin’ to bed with a couple more words to say....
I am still wishful thinkin’ & hopin’
That tomorrow will be a calmer day in my PM World.
