Northern Pass our energy reliance is yet another stumble in America's Greatness. Hydro Quebec is branding themselves as a savior to our power grid, but if you live in the state of New Hampshire...you will see huge towers carrying power south to other states. Come to see our Mountain Beauty, well it will be diminished greatly by towers up to 140 feet tall... for 192 miles.
While the P.R. campaign rages on... we are hearing from the paid politicians:" think of the revenues it will bring to the state?" During construction there will be revenues for sure...but the installers will be Canadians (not locals) and the adverse affects once completed are numerous: diminished property values, property owners filing for abatement's to lower their taxes due to the decrease in values, studies suggest nesting bird populations will diminish, and the health risks associated with a 1,000 megawatt transmission line running near homes and schools will be something we can't undo once done.
The Good news in the current plan is that 60 miles of the route is now planned to be buried. But that was only accomplished due to the strong and vocal groups trying to protect the National forest areas, Appalachian mountain hiking trail, Wildlife advocates, and local real estate professionals.

The folks on either side of the buried lines will not be so lucky...it is a lot more expensive to bury the power lines than string them overhead in existing right of ways...so there they will go if the plan gets approved.
