Since I will be attending the ASID Gala , this evening,  it might be fun to see how many designers  will share  one new idea for my readers and listeners.

I have a question for you: Wabi- Sabi is a new design aesthetic....ask if they're doing this or not. I found out about it through Ron and Alexandra Seigel who also sent me a lovely little book about it. It's a whole way of thinking about life as well as design. I actually photograph things with this style in mind (but didn't know it)!

Here is what wikipedia had:

Wabi-sabi (侘寂?) represents a comprehensive Japanese world view or aesthetic centered on the acceptance of transienceand imperfection. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete".

In reading your comment to Gayle, that is what wabi-sabi is about.  It is a Japanese tradition that when you give a handmade gift such as pottery, the gift is considered better because there is an imperfection unlike machine made gifts, which make it perfect.  You are supposed to open it alonge and find that...I could write volumes about it..A
