What going in Stockton, CA

Call 209-946-2083 for information on EARTH DAY FEST to be held from 11 to 5pm Sunday beind the Haggin Museum at Victory Park, 1201 N Pershing Avenue in Stockton. Music, food booths and other vendors and goups of all sorts will be present.

Check it out on http://www.asparagusfest.com/ - Asparagus Festival on April 25 to April 27 (Friday to Sunday). Location: downtown Stockton. Tickets are from $5 to $10: ages 11-17 ($5); Adults ($10); Seniors ($5) - 60 +. This promises to be lots of fun. Entertainers: Friday - Greg Kihn Bank; Saturday - Joan Jett & the Blackhearts; Sunday - WAR!

Call 209-951-0196 - Pops and Picnic Concert. The 19th annual Pops and Picnic Concert of the Stockton Symphony will start at 5:45pm May 2 at Stockton Memorial Civic Auditorium, 525 N. Center Street Stockton. Tickets starts at $20.

Hi Rosemary, the asparagus festival sounds interesting! I may check it out. I love asparagus!

This is the first time I have ever heard of a asparagus festival. How did this get started?

Greg ~ it has been going on for 23 years. Not sure who started or how it got started.

The earliest record of asparagus grown in California was in the northern Delta in 1852. Beginning in 1900, trainloads of asparagus were sent east, and to fill the growing demand, by 1903 nearly 6,000 acres were planted with asparagus in the San Joaquin-Sacramento Delta region alone.

You really seem to have a handle on the Stockton area. If I get anyone looking to move north of the Bay Area (you are on my list to call).

Rosemary, Sure wish I lived closer to Stockton, so that I could get to that Asparagus Festival! YUM-YUM!!! Love asparagus! I am glad to see that you are a mother- daughter team. My daughter and I also work together, so I am always happy to see other moms working with their daughters. Much success to you and your daughter in all that you do!
