The Most Expensive Home sold in Arizona last week

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Zion Realty

The most expensive home that sold in Arizona last week was a $1.8 million dollar bank owned foreclosure! Located in the highly sought after and exclusive Biltmore Estates neighborhood in Phoenix, Arizona these homes don't come on the market very often. This is the reason why a buyer would open up their pocket books to buy almost a 2 million dollar fixer-upper! Centrally located to Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Paradise Valley the Biltmore area of Phoenix is home to the Arizona Biltmore, a Waldorf Astoria Resort and golf club which has been a famous and historic icon of Phoenix since 1929.

Built in 1982 and around 5,600 square feet this home needs a total renovation. The cedar shingled roof, red brick exterior, and dark and gloomy interior shows this homes age. There are some redeeming features of the home however, including wine storage, solid hardwood floors which can be easily refinished, a loft/library, game room, and an entertainers backyard complete with a pool, spa, and waterfall features. The buyer certainly knew what they were getting themselves in to when they purchased this home but fully renovated, this property could fetch upwards of $3.5 to $4 million dollars. This was not a cash transaction but that doesn't necessarily rule out that this is a savvy investor who has plans to turn this in to the next multi-million dollar flip project. Click on the picture below for the full MLS listing:

Nice home, and no doubt the new owner will rehab the look of age.  Wishing you a great rest of the week.  A

Nicole it is hard to think of a 1.8 million dollar house being a fixer upper, but it makes sense from reading your blog.  That will be an amazing house once they do a rehab to it.

Ample wine storage?  You can't put a price tag on these kinds of things ; )

Looks like a home with great opportunity.

I have to admit, you made me curious as to what the price for selling the last week would be here in the Napa Valley, $4,250,000. Sorry to be second but in a buyer's eye, you are far in first. cheers cvc

Hi Nicole - Ah, my weekly luxury home fix from Phoenix. I always go to the pictures first and then read your post, so I wasn't surprised to see that a renovation was in the cards, but the home has some great potential.

Debb - I wish I would have been the agent on this one! Maybe the next one!

Roger - With your new knees I don't think you'd like those stairs very much.

Debbie - It's pretty dated but I bet the new owners plan some great renovations.

Alexandra - The new owner will have to put some money in to it to get it up to date for sure!

George - The value is absolutely there.

John - From your lips to God's ears!

Curtis - $4.25 million would get you a huge and wildly upgraded mansion here in Arizona!

Grant - You're not kidding. The biltmore area is well know!

Dick - It's a solid home in one of the best areas in Phoenix. I think $1.8 million was a great deal considering it's true value once it's renovated.

The Biltmore is  a fun area.  A lot of money flying around up there.  Bank owned foreclosure could mean by the time the new owner is done, they may have spent somewhere in the $2 million plus.  I'm sure it will be even more beautiful when it's done.  Thanks for sharing!!

I love reaading your column about the most expensive homes sold in Phoenix.  Yes, this one is interesting in that it was a foreclosure.  You have to see the movie "99 Homes".

C & M - It's a very exclusive area. It's older but expensive!

Lou - The mature landscaping is nice. The new owners won't have to do much.

Endre - One day I will be but it wasn't this week.

Joe - Bank owned homes have really fallen off so it's surprising a home this valuable was foreclosed on.

Joanna - I haven't heard of that. I'll Google it right now!

Marco - I've never done a flip of that magnitude but I'd love to try my hand at it!

Paul - It's a very well-to-do area. It's older, but very swanky.

Michael - If I had to guess, whoever bought it is going to flip it.

Apparently foreclosure agents all over the country have the same M.O.  Very few pictures no matter the price range.
