What Dog?...Wednesday Photo Things are Almost Back to Normal
After about seven months things are almost back to normal at my house. Before February my house was a peaceful and quiet place. I had two cats that did what they wanted and life was purfect for them. So what changed?
In February I adopted a two year old Lab/Border Collie mix from the local animal shelter. For the cats it seemed that all of a sudden their peaceful existence had come to an end. They seemed to know what was happening even before I brought the dog in the house, because they were glaring at me as I entered the door. You can see that in the first picture. That's Chloe on top of the refrigerator.
I can't begin to describe to you how mad the cats were. They backs arches, their hair stood up on end and I'd never heard them growl before. This lasted for a couple of weeks. Lucky, the dog, just wanted to play. He thought he was getting two new playmates. He was so happy. Now he knows better.
Lucky still tries to play with the cats. Although he approaches them slowly. He takes his toys and blanket over to them, but they want nothing to do with him. He still keeps trying. I almost feel sorry for him, but it's funny to watch how the interactions play out.
Overall everyone is learning to live together.
One cat does taunt Lucky, and likes it when I have to scold him and tell him to leave the cats alone. You can see how much more relaxed Chloe is in this second picture taken not too long ago. She loves her high places where she can look down on the dog.
The situation has settled down quite a bit. The dog respects the cats, and the cats do what they can to tease the dog. I get a few laughs out of it all, too.
I've lived on Colorado's Western Slope for over 24 years. I love this area and all it has to offer, and I enjoy sharing what I know about my home. As a REALTOR®, I also love to share my expertise in this area as well. If you need any real estate information for Montrose County, or Delta County, Colorado...please give me a call.
