What Dog?...Wednesday Photo Things are Almost Back to Normal

After  about seven months things are almost back to normal at my house. Before February my house was a peaceful and quiet place. I had two cats that did what they wanted and life was purfect for them. So what changed?

What Dog?...Wednesday Photo Things are Almost Back to NormalIn February I adopted a two year old Lab/Border Collie mix from the local animal shelter. For the cats it seemed that all of a sudden their peaceful existence had come to an end. They seemed to know what was happening even before I brought the dog in the house, because they were glaring at me as I entered the door. You can see that in the first picture. That's Chloe on top of the refrigerator.

I can't begin to describe to you how mad the cats were. They backs arches, their hair stood up on end and I'd never heard them growl before. This lasted for a couple of weeks. Lucky, the dog, just wanted to play. He thought he was getting two new playmates. He was so happy. Now he knows better.

What Dog?...Wednesday Photo Things are Almost Back to NormalLucky still tries to play with the cats. Although he approaches them slowly. He takes his toys and blanket over to them, but they want nothing to do with him. He still keeps trying. I almost feel sorry for him, but it's funny to watch how the interactions play out.

Overall everyone is learning to live together.

One cat does taunt Lucky, and likes it when I have to scold him and tell him to leave the cats alone. You can see how much more relaxed Chloe is in this second picture taken not too long ago. She loves her high places where she can look down on the dog.

The situation has settled down quite a bit. The dog respects the cats, and the cats do what they can to tease the dog. I get a few laughs out of it all, too.

I've lived on Colorado's Western Slope for over 24 years. I love this area and all it has to offer, and I enjoy sharing what I know about my home. As a REALTOR®, I also love to share my expertise in this area as well. If you need any real estate information for Montrose County, or Delta County, Colorado...please give me a call.

Hi, Dick Greenberg ...the cats certainly rule in my house. Lucky likes to think he's the main player, but that's only in his own mind. It's funny to watch. Thanks for stopping by.

Hi, Rob Thomas ...If you would like to see how Waffles and Peaches would react around a cat, I could send you Aslan. He seems to think he has dogs figured out. Maybe W and P could give him a lesson.

HI, Captain Wayne - Rowlett Real Estate School ...I think it's time for you to get a new cat. A furry buddy at your local animal shelter needs you.

You are funny, David Shamansky ,  Yes the dog has certainly made life difficult for the cats.

Well seven months is a long time to get settled in, William Feela.  I must say we are still working on life with a dog and two cats together. Thank you for stopping by.

Thanks for your great comment, Kathleen Daniels . I love my pets and they love me. They show me that. We do have fun, and sometimes their interactions can be challenging. It's fun, though, and really we all do get along. It's just not the perfect pet household that you would see on TV. LOL.

You will probably never see a photo of my cats and dog snuggling together.

Hi, Endre Barath, Jr. ...I do enjoy your animal posts. I hope to see more of them. My house is probably will it sit with pet relations. You will probably never see me post a photo of my cats and dog snuggling together. I just don't think it will ever happen.

Hi, James Dray ...the animals are fun to watch. The dog doesn't understand the taunting. He's very friendly and expects others to treat him the same way.
I act the same as the dog. LOL.

Oh, Roy Kelley ...don't make me run and hide. There won't be any puppies in my future. LOL. It was all I could do to adopt this young, grown dog. I don't need another dog to walk.

Hi, Scott Godzyk ...OK...I thought we were friends. LOL. There won't be any puppies in my future. It's all I can do to handle a full grown dog.

Hi, Robert (Bob) Gilbert ...I love that picture of Chloe, too. She plays cat and mouse with Lucky the dog.

I must tell you that Chloe was adopted from my local shelter. She was born there. She lived the first six months of her life in a cage before I adopted her. She's a wonderful cat. We had issues to overcome, and we did. Now she's a wonderful and loving cat. She always was, but she was just use to being in a cage all the time.

Hi, Noah Seidenberg ...I do love my pets. I don't see our family growing anytime soon, though. Two cats and a dog are enough for me. Thanks for stopping by.

Hi, Rebecca Gaujot, the Go To Realtor® ...we are still working on harmony. It's not the perfect pet household yet. You will probably never see me post a picture of my dog snuggling with one of the cats. LOL. That is never likely to happen. I will probably win the lottery before that happens.

Your cats are going to hate me, but you know what you need?  One more dog!
