2 Key Principles of Fulfillment in Your Career

“The road to happiness lies in two simple principles: find what it

is that interests you and that you can do well, and when you

find it put your whole soul into it – every bit of energy and

ambition and natural ability you have.”

John D. Rockefeller III 1906 – 1978, Philanthropist

As I see it . . . . . . .

2 key principles of fulfillment in your career

It seems that as I travel throughout the country . . . . meeting people through my training programs . . . . and consulting assignments. I meet a number of people that tell me that they feel trapped in their jobs . . . . and say that they hate what they do.

The person that hates their job can only go in one direction by continuing doing what they are doing . . . . and that’s straight down hill.

The 2 key principles of fulfillment in your career is . . . . You have to find something that you’re really interested in . . . . and something you can do well.

You have to find the path that leads you to what interests you . . . . and what you enjoy doing to make the most out of your career. When you’re doing what interests you . . . . It will hold your interest . . . . and will light the passion of your enthusiasm to drive you to higher level of achievement in your career.

To reach a higher level of achievement in your career . . . . you will have to do what you’re doing well. When you enjoy what you’re doing you will motivation yourself to become better that your profession.

The 2 key principles of fulfillment in your career . . . . is to find out what interests you . . . . and to become really good at doing it.

Good morning Lou.  I'm happy in what I do and my lifestyle.  Not much bothers me as I grow.  When I do grow up and figure out what I want to do I'll let you know.

Many people are unhappy in their chosen profession. Finding something that interests you and becoming good (or great) at it is key.

Coming from an HR background, I would have to say it is difficult for people to follow their passion and get the job they want because they are rejected. Why are they rejected? Many applicants don't even know that it is how they present themselves during the interview and how they answer the questions can determine their fate. But many applicants also don't know that the job may already be reserved for someone that somebody knows, or a consultant, or even a contractor already working in another department - but HR has to go through the process before hiring. Hence, the reason why many are not chosen.

Lou Ludwig I agree that we should do that which makes us happy, BUT I'm not an advocate of going all out. I think that even though it is something we like, we still should do it in moderation. Pace yourself.

True true. It's sad to see someone who feels stuck in job that bores them. The lucky ones wake up each day excited to do what they love. How cool is that?

Great advice for enjoying life, most people just fall into the role of employee and do what they are told never finding their true passion.

So very well said my friend, as always!  I completely agree that if your job/career isn't interesting to you, the chances of succeeding are slim.
