A few weeks ago, I saw a great opportunity arise.
It was a classroom session with a local lender (many of us use in the community) offering a FREE evening class for real estate agents on the county's first time home buyer program and all the fine nuances involved within that program.
Being a "newer" agent, I immediately jumped on this opportunity as I believe ignorance may be bliss, but knowledge is power.
As the day for the class/training approached, I made sure to have my schedule open so as not to miss it.
On the morning of the training, I received a phone call from the lender holding the training. I eagerly answered as I guessed she was simply calling to confirm my intention to attend...not so.
Instead, she called to inform me the class was canceled. "Canceled", I asked? "But why?" to which she responded, "You are the only agent who signed up."
I was surprised especially since TRID (new lending laws) just went into effect and I want to know how it will impact programs such as this one which require home inspections and repairs that could affect closing costs and time frames.
With audible dismay, I sighed, "Ok" and then the lender totally brightened up my day.
She said, "How about we meet for lunch and I go over this program with you in detail one-to-one?"
I jumped at the chance to learn more and we are all set to meet this upcoming week.
Now not only will I get my much needed info but at an even better location as well!
Not so lonely after all....
