Watch This Space.

So, this guy Mark had a really cool idea for a blog contest and I signed right up before I let myself have any second thoughts.  Then I worried, what in the world would I write about ... !?  Turns out my problem wasn't a LACK of ideas, it was TOO MANY IDEAS.  I realized, THIS is just what I need to be blogging about -- my "Idea Vault".  Welcome to my Ideas for Future Posts, and I hope they give you ideas of your own.  (Just don't steal mine!)

WV State FlagI'm from West Virginia and so far the local agents on Active Rain have been a little on the quiet side.  This is a WONDERFUL place to live and I want everyone to know it.  Consider me the Ambassador of West Virginia, as I will be leading you an a tour of some of my favorite places.  I can't possibly put it all in one post.

This entry is my teaser.  If you are considering a move to the Putnam County area of West Virginia, if you live here already, or if you are interested in the slightest about learning more about some really cool places, WATCH THIS SPACE.

SOON, I will be telling you all kinds of insider information, most likely including all of the followWV State Capitoling ... and hopefully more that I'll think of later:

  • Where your teenager will want to hang out
  • Where to buy the BEST Halloween Costume you have EVER seen.  (And how to get invited to the party!)
  • Where to find a 2,600 pipe organ capable of producing 20,000 notes
  • Where to watch the Civil War unfold in front of you
  • How to lose your shirt watching those doggies run -- "Sparky is on the way!"
  • How to treat Grandma right  (Already blogged -- no waiting!)
  • It's not just summer child care, it's an adventure
  • And at least a few more Day Trips to other areas of West Virginia

Let me shout it from the rooftops -- This is a great place to live!!

This may not be exactly what Mark had in mind when he came up with this contest, but it was nice to discover I have so much I want to share.  I am excited about the opportunities Active Rain and Localism have given me to show off this wonderful state!  WATCH THIS SPACE for much more West Virginia information in the near future!

OK Sarah, now I know I need help.  You just posted this and I'm already here commenting.

Well, let's forget about my shortcomings and focus on you.  Very nice post!  I have been on the quiet side in my area as well.  There really is nothing like a local tour guide.  You make your daytrips so enjoyable that I am looking forward to reading all about your town.  Bring it on!

Cool, Sarah, I can't wait to read more. I'm always interested in learning about new places and you've really piqued my interest, so...

...I'll be watching...do tell!

Hi, Maggie!  *Whew!*  I didn't know what to do with this one, and when you asked me on another post about this contest I started thinking, "Oh, no!  I don't even know what to write, and it better be good because Maggie's going to read it!"  LOL!  But REALLY, I DID think that!

Hi, Lanette!  Great to hear from you and I hope my future posts will be worthy of the build-up ... hmm, should have thought of THAT, should I???  :o?  Did you see my other Bad Listing Photos?  That one was for you!

I know this isn't Instant Messaging, but it sure is feeling like that.

I cannot believe you said that!  Get those kinds of thoughts out of your mind.  I love the way you write.  You're very good at it.  None of it seems forced.  Regardless of how much work it may actually take, you make it flow and sound easy.  I think you could probably write about the phonebook and make it sound interesting.  :o)

Maggie -- is this AR or IM???

Want to know why I write like this?  My secret:  I have about nine penpals in five different countries.  I can't keep up with my writing to them as well as I did before I went back to work, but I can come up with SOMETHING to say every day and I learned to keep it simple because most of them are non-native English speakers.

Also, I just kind of talk a lot, according to my husband.  :o)

HA HA HA HA!  Your husband sounds like my kids.  Last week as we left church they said  "Mom, do you think we can make it out to the parking lot in under 20 minutes?  Why do you have to stop and chat with everybody?"

I'm impressed about your penpals, but not surprised.  It seems to suit you.  You write them every day?  Wow.

Nooooooo, not every day.  But I'm usually writing to SOMEBODY every day.  I'm not THAT good.

I'll certainly "Watch This Space"!  I'm staying tuned.....

The late "John Denver" certainly liked West Virginia! Just from his song alone everyone over 25 knows about West Virginia!

I think I will "Watch This Space" :)

Hi Sarah,

Please don't be mad if we try to produce something similar to this post for our area.  I love what you did and I've been trying to come up with some way of talking about our area and I think this is a great idea.  Of course I know WVA is gorgeous.  I think I told you I was there on a HS Choir exchange trip when I was "very" young.  I thought what John Denver had to say was right on the money!  We're suppose to be going to a wedding in July to VA Beach.  I'm looking forward to it.

Hi, Lisa!  Please, feel free to do a "Watch this Space" for your area!  I'll be looking out for it!  :o)

Sarah,

What an intriguing approach! I just posted on my hometown but it was nowhere near as fun as yours.

Yours will keep them coming back for more...and that's the whole idea right?

Can I steal your idea?can I ...please,please.I'm waaaay over on the other side of the country!

I won't use the words (dog run??) but the idea....love it!

03/14/2007 08:49 PM by Joan Mirantz- Concord New Hampshire Realtor (Keeler Family Realtors)

Joan - Have at it!  :o)

(The doggies run at a greyhound race track.  Sparky is the electronic "rabbit" lure they chase, but they don't yell that anymore when the dogs take off.  Some of these I do just for me!)

03/15/2007 03:57 AM by Sarah Cooper (Real Estate Shows)

That's a great idea....it will give people insight to the area and potential clients insight to your personality and passion.  A very effective way to sell your community and your competence!  Very impressive!
