Brian - I was surprised to see that you had anything priced under $200k in the area.  I just sold a listing recently for $109,900, and that is VERY inexpensive, even for the Austin area.

Thanks for the info I am always amazed about pricing in other areas and wonder how buyers can afford to buy. We are so spoiled with pricing here with a 150,000 + - .

Hey Brian,

That is a great set of stats.  I'm genuinely impressed.  I wanna be like you when I grow up :)

Seriously though, did you get those graphs from "Technology for Real Estate"?

Being a newbie, hopefully I'm allowed to ask a silly question...How long did you spend doing the research and setting the whole Post up?

Okay, 2nd question, if you were just starting, and to do something that detailed, how long would it have taken?

I just put up a few pointers/stats for Loudoun County, but not nearly as detailed.

Okay, here's my 3rd question, what percentage of people who look at your blog on a regular basis pay attention to all those details?  And (4th) is that a value that you have become known for to offer, particularly and especially in Arlington?

JASON:  We don't have a whole lot under $200K, but there are still a few things to be found close in to D.C.  Mostly studio and 1 bedroom condos.

TERRY:  It's definitely a struggle for many buyers to afford to live in the area.  However, we do have some of the highest salaries in the country and some of the wealthiest counties in the nation.

STEPHEN:  Thanks for your comment and compliments.

Actually, I created these graphs myself taking data from the MLS and plugging it into Excel to make graphs.

I didn't time it but it probably took about an hour to an hour and a half to do all the research and produce this post.  It may have taken longer in the past to produce the same type of post, but I've been doing these for a while.

Not sure how to answer your third question, except that I know that many clients who meet with me after reading my blog posts seem to have digested a good bit of the information.

Finally, I'd like to believe that I've "become known" for this type of detailed information, but can't say for sure.

CHARLIE:  I never would have guessed it too in 2008, but these inexpensive condos in Arlington are quite small and not necessarily the most desirable.
