 Having Specific Goals Changes Everything

“I found that when you start thinking and saying what you

really want, then your mind automatically shifts and

pulls you in that direction. And sometimes it can be

that simple just a little twist in vocabulary that

illustrates your attitude and philosophy.”

Jim Rohn 1930 - 2009, Business Philosopher, Author, Speaker

As I see it . . . . . . .

Having specific goals changes everything

A specific goal . . . . is a defined goal that you can see . . . . you can measure . . . . and you can explain in detail.

When your goals are specific . . . . the image that in your thinking become exact. You know with a sense of certainly what you want to achieve. Your target is clear . . . . you’ll able to aim at it with the expectation of hitting the bull’s eye.

Your target may be moving . . . . and that’s to be expected . . . .

Your goals are your target . . . . You may find that you will have to make some adjustments to hit your target . . . . With those adjustment you will find your moving in the right direction to hit your target.

Having specific goals changes everything  . . . . You will find that you can focus on the important activities to move you forward. As a result you will make far better use of your time . . . . and energy to achieve your goals.

Lou, great reminder of what one must do to achieve the bigger picture of success.  Having activity with "intent and purpose" makes things happen sooner with urgency!!

This is so true, if our goals are too broad, we might never achieve the ultimate goal, as we might not even know what it is, haha.

You know Lou Ludwig I really like Jim Rohn, but this is one of those things I really don't like. The idea that if you visualize your goals (a new car, a boat, a house on an island) that you are on your way to getting them. I don't think so. You still need to take action (make steps in the right direction) and evaluate your progress.

Lou,

The key is taking daily right action. To many people visualize but don’t act. I keep a spreadsheet to document what action I’ve taken on each of my goals each day.

Lou, when our targets start moving, our goals are shifted, and it does take a shift in our mindset.

Quantify your goals and they are easier to achieve. "I will make 15 phone calls this week" vs "I'll spend more time calling prospects this week"

Lou, this is a good word for all of us. Set a goal, understand how to reach that goal and then make the goal a daily reminder of what you are doing.

It's a beautiful day on the Crystal Coast!

As a new agent, I have set specific goals for my first year in the business, and I believe I will meet - and probably surpass - those goals. That has worked for me before in my prior career, and I am confident that having and visualizing ambitious goals is part of the path to success. The bigger part, however, is always hard work and diligence. I can do that, too!

Your goals need to be something you love.  How often in life do we put off doing impracticle things we would love to do and flounder in the practicle things we feel we need to do?
