Every city has that one neighborhood that stands out against all others. For Colorado Springs, its the stunning historical houses of the Old North End. From immaculate two story craftsmen to Victorian mansions on over sized lawns, the neighborhood is overflowing with sophisticated charm. It also happens to be known for its magnificent holiday decorations, and Halloween is legendary.
With the spooky night just a week away, ONE (Old North End) home owners are pulling out all the stops in full decorating mode. Some go with a theme, weather scary or fun, and some look as if they hired a professional designer to showcase the beauty of their home.
On Halloween night, many of the home owners offer free apple cider and hot chocolate for the little monsters and ghouls. Every year is different and trick or treaters never know what new houses will participate in the entertainment for the evening. Last year, some one created a haunted maize right in their front yard, sound effects included, for the daring trick or treaters to walk through.
Keep in mind, that due to it's popularity as a trick or treat hot spot, the Old North End Neighborhood tends to be crowded with visitors. However, if you are comfortable keeping track of your little ones in the sea of people, it is well worth the extra effort. While the kids have a blast getting candy and admiring the decorations, the adults can't get enough of the canopy tree lined streets and beautiful location.
