Bad Weather Headed towards Katy/Houston

We are all waiting with nervous anticipation plus trepidation as very severe storms are headed this way courtesy of Hurricane Patricia. The heavy rain is forecast to move into the Texas Gulf Coast this afternoon. The forecast also calls for 100 % probability of heavy rain here for this whole area. Heavy rain continues into this evening at the 100 % level. When weather people forecast 100 % we all know there is big time trouble trouble heading our way.  We have had some light rain earlier today and it actually stopped drizzling about 30 minutes ago. That was short lived as I just took the garbage out and it is raining a little harder.  Of course there will be the patches of extreme rain occurring during short periods of time through the whole area. No one can accurately predict where it will hit,

Remember everyone do not drive into water. There are some scary statistics about rain and flooding deaths and see the the next paragraph..

Per the national Weather Service “Each year, more deaths occur due to flooding than from any other thunderstorm related hazard. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report that over half of all flood-related drownings occur when a vehicle is driven into hazardous flood water. The next highest percentage of flood-related deaths is due to walking into or near flood waters. People underestimate the force and power of water. Many of the deaths occur in automobiles as they are swept downstream. Of these drownings, many are preventable, but too many people continue to drive around the barriers that warn you the road is flooded. A mere 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock over an adult. It takes just 12 inches of rushing water to carry away a small car, while 2 feet of rushing water can carry away most vehicles. It is NEVER safe to drive or walk into flood water".

Be safe and consider staying off the roads. I went out early today to buy food for dinner tonight and tomorrow. Our street in front of our home does flood when there are these hard hitting short bursts of rain.

I've been watching the weather reports, and the storms look menacing for much of the state of Texas.  I still haven't seen too many pictures emerging from Puerto Vallarta yet.  I hope those folks are ok.
