Halloween Recipe - Caramel Apple Sangria
This submission is for the Haunted Masquerade and Costume Ball for 2015. Technically the instructions called for a "home made Halloween treat" so it's possible my offering will be disqualified. No worries if that is the case. (I'll just make another drink!)
This recipe is quick and easy, and the best part of all is it requires NO BAKING! The most complicated process is chopping a few apples. Or is it going to the store to buy caramel syrup? Whatever the case, this is quick, simple and easy. My FAVORITE combination!
Caramel Apple Sangria
Ingredients:
1 bottle white wine
1 bottle apple cider
1/4 cup caramel syrup
2 apples, chopped
Chill both the white wine and apple cider. Once chilled, mix together and add caramel syrup. Add chopped apples and keep in refrigerator until ready to serve.
I didn't have sparkling apple cider, so I substituted apple juice. This isn't rocket science; it's an adult beverage, so I was willing to be experimental.
It's tastes just fine to me!
Since the primary purpose of this post is for the Haunted Post Parade and not a dinner party, I made sangria by the glass.
By the glass recipe:
Equal parts wine and apple juice
2 tablespoons caramel syrup
Enough chopped apple for garnish
I added two grape "eyeballs" for effect.
I'm not sure about you, but you can't get much easier that that!
If you want to get even more creative with your Halloween drinks, here are a few tips:
- Freeze plastic spiders or flies in ice cubes and add as needed.
- Freeze a pineapple chunk in juice and add to your drinks.
- Float plastic eyeballs or peeled grapes for added interest.
Happy Halloween!!
