Don't do this when you visit Kauai

By
Real Estate Agent with Resort and Second-Home Specialist REALTOR Broker #21673

Watch this video for a few minutes and you'll see a mistake many visitors make when they come to the islands.

You may not be as reckless as these young men, but visitors require recues every year here because they underestimate the power of our ocean. There are lots of places where you can safely enjoy our waters. This is not one of them!

Our motto for ocean safety is "When in doubt don't go out."

It is crazy how strong the ocean or even water can be. I was on Maui or a normal  beach with waves that must have only been 2 feet tall, if it takes you are the right angle you go under and tumble all the way to shore. Still love the ocean though.

Yes, Stefan Winter, on an island in the Pacific far from any continents the power of even small waves is sometimes very strong. I grew up going to California beaches and have always been ocean savvy. Here everyone needs to be aware and play safely!

Kauai was our favorite island when we visited Hawaii in January of 2013.

Not to worry, our idea of fun was golfing or horseback riding = nothing this advenurous or dangerous:)

Thanks for sharing - hope to be back there someday it's beautiful!

Sincerely,

Grace

Rick Frissell it's a great place and the real Queen's Bath (next to this dangeerous spot) can be great fun when surf is not high. Hope you make it out here sometime soon!
