DIET REHAB 28 Days o Finally Stop Craving the Foods That Make You Fat. Dr. Mike Dow ~ Post 2
I just finished the first chapter of DIET REHAB. This book makes so much sense and is based upon scientific research. While I could skip over to page 231 and look at the 28 day program, I am enjoying reading the explanation behind his plan to take control of our food addictions and control of our bodies.
My favorite quote from Chapter 1:
The frustrating thing about the food culture we live in is that it’s so easy to overexpose ourselves to high-fat or high-sugar/carb foods without even realizing it. For example, in 2010, Domino’s made a change that resulted in a huge spike in sales: they changed the recipe of their pizzas to include 40 percent more cheese. Just one slice of the new version contains as much as 2/3 of a day’s maximum recommended amount of saturated fat – and how many people stop with just one slice?”
Dopamine and Seratonin levels in our brain affect our moods, self-esteem, ability to believe others when they tell us that we can do great things, or that we’re smart, beautiful, talented, successful, etc.. Eating high fat and high sugar foods raise these chemical levels in our brain and we become addicted to them.. These are the same chemicals that anti-depressants affect in our brains.
So far, I highly recommend this book to anyone that has trouble staying in a healthy way of eating lifestyle. It just makes so much sense!
