HAWS RECEIVES YOUTH HUMANE EDUCATION GRANT
Build-A-Bear Workshop and the Petfinder Foundation have awarded HAWS, the Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County, with a Youth Humane Education Grant valued at more than $10,000!
The grant, made possible by Build-A-Bear Workshop and the Build-A-Bear Workshop Foundation, is given to organizations that hold firm in the belief of the importance of educating and inspiring the next generation to care for and love pets at an early age. The overall goal of HAWS’ active education department is to inspire awareness and compassion for all living things; the department is dedicated to offering exemplary youth education programs focused on hands-on work with animals.
Notes HAWS’ Executive Director, Lynn Olenik: “So much of HAWS’ overall mission is to encourage responsibility, training youth to nurture those that depend on us for care. We will improve the lives of all members of our community, by teaching kindness and compassion to the youth of our community.”
The grant of $10,663 will be used for HAWS’ programs for children ages 6-14, including the many day camps conducted at the shelter throughout the year.
