Special offer

Your inspection is complete - what about the inspection report?

By
Real Estate Sales Representative with Keller Williams Realty Inc.

Your offer has been accepted on your dream home! It's time to do your inspection to ensure your new home is in good condition.

Like most inspections, you will find a few things wrong with your new home. As long as there aren't too many serious issues you will be buying this home. Your qualified home inspector will most likely give you his/her inspection report. All the small items will be identified in this report. I see a lot of people look at that report and just put it away but never go back to it. This report is very important to ensure that all the items identified are taken care of. Use this report as a TO DO list for when you move in.

You have paid for this report, make sure to make good use of it! Make sure to visit my website ( JeanRicher.com ) to get more tips and feel free to share.

Jean, I think it's also important to work with inspectors to make sure that the report they prepare is easily understood by the dumbest, stupidest listing agent! Some inspectors are fabulous when it comes to going over the house and finding the good and the bad, but then the report is incomprehensible.

I agree 100% Patricia - a good inspector can make a big difference!

What Pat Kennedy said in comment #1.

Tallahassee Home Inspectors are great at providing easy-to-read Reports with lots of photos.  But I have seen reports in other Florida cities that were written in tiny font, few photos, with poorly written explanations.
