Thanksgiving Day Meal Preview and Real Estate

By
Industry Observer with Nature As Neighbors

We think previewing exemplifies caring.

Yesterday, while flying home from the East Coast, we got excited about the holiday season. Thanksgiving is just around the corner! We have decided to smoke a our turkey on our new Traeger Grill this year. However, because we haven't done it before, my husband suggested we have a trial run this coming weekend.

The more we talked about it, the more sense it made. After all, the ultimate compliment to others is consideration. When we preview homes for our clients, the intent is to save them time. Why should they waste time looking at homes that fall short of their desires or expectations?  You get the idea.

Therefore, we will have a trial run of our Thanksgiving menu this Saturday or Sunday. We want our family and friends to have a delicious meal with no hiccups, unless they are the result of eating too much, or too fast. We can't wait.  Do you take a trial run at your holiday menu or uncharted recipes?

Hi Debbie, great anology. If I'm planning on adding something new to the menu, trial run is a must. I know your meal is going to be delicious!

Good morning, Debb --- and Halloween weekend is perfect timing for your trial run.  I suggest costumes too.   And, of course, lots and lots of photos.  I'll let you know where you can send any leftovers -- however, I'm doubtful there will be many.

What a great idea for a pre trial run.  I have done that with some dishes, just to make sure everything tastes perfect.  I am now hungry, have not had breakfast yet.  Ron is making a blueberry chocolate shake.  A

I definitely do.  I love cooking the Thanksgiving meal and have even cooked it during the year just because.  We cook sometimes at the church on Wednesday nights, so our family is usually the guinea pigs.  Enjoy!

Hello Debb, I always have a trail run on new items espically if it is cooking something before it goes public, but that is just me.

Hi Debb - Trying a recipe first is a great idea, but I usually skip that step and opt for the suspense and drama that comes from the possibility of a complete disaster and a pizza delivery :)

Makes sense to me, its still a month until thanksgiving. You'll know the turkey will be great and enjoy some good turkey sandwiches this coming week from the trial run. Win-Win situation, have a great week!

Debb, I do like to have a trial, but that's not always possible, sometimes your guests just have to be brave!

What a fine idea Debb, I love turkey. It does not have to be Thanksgiving.

Hi Debb Janes ,  I have a tried and true menu but when I was a young bride, I did try a new recipe every holiday.  I never really did trial runs because there was plenty of other food to cover any disasters.  Turns out most of my experiments turned into family favorites that were added to the menu each year.  I had to stop trying new things because there just wasn't room on the table or in our stomachs for more food!   Trying a different method of cooking a turkey?  YES, a trial run is very much in order.  Good luck with that!

Debb,

No we just wing it, we haven't ruined  too many things I can usually read a recipe and see if it is good....the Turkey well I always buy a fresh one, and have roasted it many different ways I always hold my breath because you never know if it cooked just right. Plus as Carol said we usually have so much food to cover one bad dish!
