Slowly Building a Top Notch Inventory, Downtown Toronto's 2 Hounds Design + Home Staging

For the last big 2 Hounds Design home staging in Downtown Toronto I broke down and started purchasing large pieces of inventory. A beautiful soft gray transitional sectional as well as a Barcelona Chair & Ottoman (in white!) are the largest investments.

I thought I'd introduce you all to my new favorite chair...can you believe I'd never sat in a Barcelona before I got this?

Now I'm getting the Isamu Noguchi Coffee Table for a staging in Downtown Toronto. I'm so thrilled to be adding it to our inventory.

I don't know how I'll keep these pieces from entering my house. If I'm lucky, I'll keep them in vacants for some time.

Or go broke trying!

I'm planning to add the Barcelona chair to my inventory this year.  You might also look for the Eileen Gray adjustable chrome and glass end table.  Eileen Gray did some fabulous stuff, and was quite an interesting character.  The 'Transat' chair is also a nice item from her collection.

The Barcelona chair is available from Knoll, or it's knocked off quite a bit, and can be found on Ebay.  The same with the Eileen Gray table. However, Eurway, also carries both items.

I totally agree with the direction you're taking your inventory into.   Contemporary classics really update a listing, and you don't need much to create the scene!

Have a happy day!

Like Tom Scalon has said before, "Don't try to sit down in your own home in the dark.  What was there yesturday, might have been 'pimped out' today!"  Love the peices!

Dane- I love your new choices in furniture peices. I hope they bring you lots of rental $$$$$$.

Tom yes, Eileen Gray was a wonderful designer & architect. Her end table is on my list as well. Sounds like you must have a really nice collection of furniture!

I agree totally, these pieces practically demand you use less 'fluff' and make the investment well worth it!

Melissa, thank you. It is quite comfortable. I like to sit sort of sideways with my legs up so I love it!

Both are GREAT ADDS! They are both classic furnishing that are great looking and definitely will add some sparks for your staged homes ;) But they also both require significant investments! that's probably why I haven't add them to mine ;) Plus I have no space for them right  now!

Cheers,

Cindy

These pieces are classics and look terrific in properties. I have a number of them and buy them for that very reason. However, as someone mentioned the originals are quite expensive so look for the imitations as these are super close in their look, they just have a lower grade leather or bycast finish. The benefit of this is generally you can have almost 4 chairs for the price on the 1 original.

I have recently added three 3 seater Lecorbusier replicas, 2 x Lecorb single chairs and a white Barcelona sofa to the inventory and they are brilliant. They look the part too.

It IS hard to keep great pieces out of your own house.  But I find that after I use them in a couple of houses, I get a little used to them and don't want them for myself so much anymore.  It's when you just buy it and use it for the first time that is the worst!  Joan

Hey Dane, Marci will flip when she see this. She loves those chairs!  It looks great.

oh yum!  Can I have one?

Actually, I have yet to use them.  My rental company uses them a lot; but not me.  It's not the right look for my folks yet... in time!

Congrats on the new babies!!  <gr>

Yes, my hubby calls staging "license to shop"...it's hard to leave it in inventory sometimes, huh?  I can totally relate.
