Peanut Butter Cup ShakeI stopped by my local Baskin Robbins ice cream store tonight for one of those new things they have been plastering all over TV.  A Reeses Peanut Butter cup shake or something like that.  Picked it up on my way home late tonight as a suprise for me and my wife.  By the way, the service at that store on Mason and Highland Knolls was EXCELLENT.  The staff was friendly and quick and the place was clean even though it was after 9pm!

Anyway, what does that have to do with memories...well, it brought back one of the funniest things I can remember as a kid.  I went to Baskin Robbins a lot back then with my Grandma.  We went one time specifically to get the flavor of the month.   Oh yeah, I can remember it now.  "QUARTERBACK CRUNCH".  Doesn't that just sound good?  Hahaha.

Anyway, as was the norm, when you go into BR, you play it cool.  You KNOW what you are getting but hey, they give samples on those little pink spoons.  SO you try to play it cool.  Get a couple of different samples and finally decide on what you came in there for in the first place!

QUARTERBACK CRUNCH!

I'll never forget the young guy that helped me that night.  Well, I was young, he was probably 16 or 17 so he was OLD to me being that I was younger than 10!  He was a TALL young man of Asian decent.  He had a dark, thick hair and a huge smile.  He spoke with a very thick accent.  I asked for my taste of QUARTERBACK CRUNCH, knowing I already wanted it.

MMMMMMM...it was delicious!  So, still being cool, I asked, "so what kind of nuts are in this QUARTERBACK CRUNCH"?

In his thick accent came the answer that shattered my world.  "those not nuts, they wice kwispies" (I wish I could do the accent justice, but I can't write it like I heard it).   He could have said anything and it would have been all right.  BUT CEREAL in my ICE CREAM!

YUCK!  I was done with quarterback crunch....

And as I stood there tonight, getting my order filled, I decided NOT to ask what was in the shake!
