Halloween Island-Style!

By
Real Estate Agent with Resort and Second-Home Specialist REALTOR Broker #21673

Pumpkins are carved into Jack-O'-Lanterns here on the islands. I've never seen a turnip used, which was one of the correct answers to a recent Q&A here (apparently turnips are a traditional vegetable for carving in some places).

So what is traditional here in Hawaii?Pineapples! Yes, that sweet fruit can be transformed into the perfect Jack-O'-Lantern.

Living on the islands I've seen a lot of unique twists to how we celebrate and decorate different holidays. I'll post some blogs around Christmas so you see how Kauai does that "island-style" too.

Happy Halloween!

Now that looks like fun. I would love to be sitting on an island right now.

Love the Pineapple Jack-o-lantern, Kathleen.  Do the children surf up the beach for trick or treat?

LOL, Gabe Sanders! No surfing for trick-or-treats but at Christmas sometimes Santa surfs onto shore here.

Love the pineapple jack-o-lantern and think I would like that better because I like pineapple and not pumpkin so I would be able to eat the inside of a pineapple.

What fun! I had no idea, and this sort of reminds me of Wilson from the famous movie Castaway with Tom Hanks. Looks like the same kind of face!!
