The Annual Meeting of the Delaware Historical Society will be held on November 5, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. The business meeting and program, "Inside the Delaware Historical Society's Transformation," will be followed by a members' reception, at which time the new Gift Shop area will be dedicated to former Delaware Historical Society Executive Director, Dr. Barbara E. The 52nd Annual Delaware Antiques Show is coming to the Chase Center at the Riverfront in Wilmington Nov. 6-7. Presented by Winterthur and Wilmington Trust, hours are Friday, November 6: 11:00 am–7:00 pm (Thomas Jayne lecture at 10:00 am), Saturday, November 7: 11:00 am–6:00 pm, and Sunday, November 8: 11:00 am–5:00 pm. A word to the wise: former Winterthur Fellow and famous designer Thomas Jayne should be a “don’t miss” for Friday.

New Historic Home listing: The W. G. Phillips House on Newport Gap Pike in Wilmington. This 175 year old Italianate house was owned by the nephew of Robert Phillips, who had built the nearby Greenbank Mill in the late 18th C. William G. Phillips was an inventor of carriage and gate parts. The house has been updated but still retains its historic aura.
Available Historic Homes: The 1856 Andrew Eliason House, a brick Italianate home on 1.6 acres in Middletown, Delaware. This home has 5 bedrooms, a carriage house, and in-ground pool. A recent open house totally awed all visitors. The Henry Webster House, a late 18th century stone home in Wilmington sits high above the street and has basement joists made of trees running the width of the house.
Coming later this month: The Chambers Mansion, an early 20th C. Queen Anne mansion in North Wilmington . It has been completely re-wired and new heating and air conditioning systems have been installed. Watch for it on my website.
